Lubiere (14133) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 9, 2006
Deep black stout with a moka head. Nice roasted coffee beans, malt and good hops in aroma. Nice roasted malts in mouth, with light hops notes. Smooth but a bit short in mouth. On tap summer 2005, with Rastacouere.

draught. deep brownish-black with a slight tinge of ruby and a big frothy mocha head leaving significant lacing. the aroma is fairly nice - cream, chocolate, raisins, and a slight sour note. flavours are nice though maybe a little bit straightforward. smooth bittersweet chocolate and raisins. the finish is ripe with leafy bitterness. I enjoyed this.

Ungstrup (38215) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - NOV 26, 2005
A deep red-brown beer with a collapsing brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted - but a bit light for my liking. The flavor is sweet roasted, with a slightly citrus hoppy end, and a very smooth mouthfeel.

BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - AUG 24, 2005
Draught at the brewpub
Rich oatmeal, light roast and hops, creamy and balanced. A tasty end to a fun day in the country. Thanks for the taste Jens.

Oakes (18434) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 19, 2005
Very dark brown. Slightly nutty arom with a fair bit of roast. Medium body. Good balance of nutty, toasty, slightly coffeeish elements. Not overly bitter, but which of their beers is?

argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - JUL 14, 2005
(RBSG05) A red-black body is topped by a tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma is medium sweet, chocolate, light roast. Taste is medium sweet, some chocolate, some roasty, no bitterness in the aftertaste. Watery, soft, light-medium body.

CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUL 11, 2005
Pours a transparent, but dark brown with a deep, forthy tan head with clumpy lacing. Aroma is lightly sweet and caramely with a nice roasty presence. Body is a little light for a stout but has a nice toasty malt, semi-sweet, mildly bitter balance. The smooth body aids in its overall drinkability.

3.3
rederic (3341) - montréal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 7, 2005
Black color, with beige tan-colored foamy head, with good lacing, dark coffee, burnt malt, roasted grains, touch of cereal, with a chocolatey aroma follows through on a medium-bodied soft palate with burnt malt, hint of sweetness from the oatmeal used, dark chocolate, burnt toast in soft round bitterness finish.

muzzlehatch (4970) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 22, 2005
Largish sample at the brewpub with the Kuhnhenns, tiggmtl and ClarkVV. Stunningly thick, opaque black with just a stitch of lasting dark head...big, chocolaty nose, with hint of roasty coffee and caramelized grain here and there...great balance between the sweet, slightly lactic milk-chocolate and burnt grains, touches of maple...finish a bit too sour...nose much stronger and more potent near the end of the sample.

3.3
ClarkVV (6839) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 8, 2005
On draught at the brewpub, 6/3/2005 with the Kuhnhenn’s, Muzzlehatch and Tiggmtl. Deeply transluscent body having a deep burgundy brown color with light auburn highlights. Beige head quickly recedes to ring, little to no lacing. Coffee/black malt in the nose. Flavor of chocolate and light roast coffee. Some vanilla suggestions. Husky black grains are very intimate and linger on the palate quite flavorfully. Retronasal black pepper. Balance is mostly dry overall, with a medium body that is not watery, but the above average carbonation seems to be a bit bothersome. Coffee and earthy compost linger on.
