Floral, earthy, lightly herbal hops, some caramel malts in the lightly oxidized, tired aroma. Clear amber-brown coloured body is topped by a decent off white head that recedes rapidly to ring. Grainy malts, orange, herbal, floral hops and mild bitterness in the flavour. Again it doesn’t seem vibrant or fresh. Medium light body is on the watery side with large bubbled, strong but short-lived carbonation. Unfortunately, this one really didn’t work for me. Sampled on tap at the brewpub during March in Montreal 2006.

Pours a clear dark red color with a nice medium diminishing and creamy offwhite head. Aroma of husky malt with caramel. Flavor of spicy and earthy hops (Golding?) with caramel malt. The body is medium to full with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. A good Irish cream ale.

Dark brownish color, with a frothy tan-colored head, spiced nose, candied orange peels note, mixed with manderine, caramelized malt accent, hint of oxidation, with a nuttiness background in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a grainy character emerging first, with a candied orange peels, going friendly a his sweet caramelized side, leaving places to flowery hop aspect, leading towards a nice bitter hops finish.

Any first impressions?
-A boggy head settles atop the dark copper.
-The rust is a shame, as the hiding grassiness proves.
-Oxidation is found within the caramel maltiness.
-The prickly carbonation pushes through the ample sweet maltiness.

What if you dig deeper?
-Malt roastiness and cranberry esters play around.
-Tea-like leafiness offers some flavor and back bitterness.
-The bitter orange peel used doesn’t offer enough aromatics.
-An unconvential idea which in the end doesn’t justify its worth.

On tap at the brewpub.
