@ pub, bay leave at it extreme, maybe a little too much... I would have like to try that beer with a dish of plain white spaghettis it could definitely replace the sauce. LadySusan (766) - Ste-Therese, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 25, 2009
Taster at Bieres et Saveurs Chambly 08. The color is honey, no head. The aroma is the best part of this beer, herbs galore but that is it. As for the taste I prefer water. martin21 (155) - Quebec city, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 25, 2008
Deguster a bieres et saveurs. Speciale, arome d oregan extremement prononcer a mon gout.
Tasted at Bieres et saveurs. Weird, extreme oregano aroma, way too much for me. rodenbach99 (4572) - Longueuil, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 28, 2008
en fût sur place, la bière ressemble aux autres par son coté cuivrée, au nez tout est en épice, an bouche c’est méconnaissable, agréable, épicée, pour la découverte MartinT (9795) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 31, 2008
My Bottom Line:
Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 10, 2008
Bay leaves and oregano burst out of this quirky Gruit, overshadowing its caramelized cereals. This is a highly intriguing brew, but it could be crisper to increase drinkability.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy dark amber.
-The finish is not as bright as the aroma; the chosen herbs become muddled.
-The mouthfeel is well fed, but its light sweetness and slickness gets tiring alongside the constant herb pressure.
-This beautifully perfumy.
-Carbonation is soft and pleasant.
On tap at Festival Bières et Saveurs.
In short: An intensely herbal (oregano on top) beer. Brewed without using any hops. Very original (read “weird”) and surprisingly drinkable.Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUL 28, 2008
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy golden copper body topped by a small white head
In long: Nose is an explosion of oregano. Some other herbs and spices but really the oregano is dominant here. Really weird but not unpleasant. Body is soft but full. Taste is all about the herbs. Oregano is of course a big player in the taste but I also got laurels, Chinese tea, freshly cut green grass, basil, estragon and more. Finish is dry, after-taste had a nice refreshing lime flavour. I rarely (if ever) tasted a beer with such an intense herbal flavour. What’s more surprising is that it is actually quite drinkable. Looks like the wife got the mash tun confused with her cooking pot, the spaghetti sauce was rather bland but the beer is pretty original.
A weird spicy gruit ale that does not strike the usual balance chord that this brewer is capable of.

As usual at bedondaine, the body is delectable, rotund and gently oily.
I went for the sampler 6oz. Glass and it was plenty. Rather out of proportion bay leaves galore. Not refreshing at all, more of an experimental, fun to have tried brew. Timid carbonation does not counterbalance the spiciness which lasts for a while.
(Rating #1833)
