Visited Bedondaine et Bedons Ronds during BeerQuest 2010, our 3rd visit here. Sampled this over a competitive game of scrabble w/ some friends we met in Montreal. This is the only brew that really stood out and kicked me in the mouth. Mint taste is so strong that is like drinking scope. As disgusting as that sounds... this beer was inventive, interesting, and pretty damn fantasy... I think Frodo drank this stuff in the shire. Brews like this are why beer is fun.

Clear yellow. White head with average retention. Aroma is malt, herbs, mint, and juniper berries. Similar flavor. Well done, but not an every day beer.

Dguste en ft au brouepub. De couleur ambre-orange et claire. Nez herbeux (menthe verte, faibles note de houblon herbeux), lger de fruits (petits fruits, traces de melon) et de grains de malt. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un ptillement moyen-fort et une texture trs lgrement crmeuse. Got de menthe verte et fruit (petits fruits sucrs) lors de lentre en bouche auquel se rajoute un got de grains de malt (traces de caramel) et de crales (notes de seigle asschant, se dveloppant surtout vers la finale) ainsi que des traces de pain puis en finale lon retrouve des notes de houblon herbeux, dalcool doux et un lger regain herbeux (menthe). Post-got moyen, aux notes amres de houblon herbeux et avec des petites notes dalcool. (automne 2006)

Verre de 12 oz, d"un ft, la brasserie. Armes trs originaux de menthe frache qui rappelle la slush saveur "verte". Robe orange, effervescence assez faible, peu de mousse. La menthe est bien prsente en bouche, quoique un peu moins que dans larme, et est accompagne dune touche de crales et dun malt lgrement sucr. Finale menthole. Une exprience trs intressante et plutt russie.

deguster a Bieres et saveurs. Presence de menthe sans trop dominer, ce qui est bien. Serais mieux balancee avec plus de cote malter ou un arome de chocolat. Tasted at Bieres et saveurs. Mint flavor is there without being overpowering, which is good. Id see more maltiness or even some chocolate taste to it.

en ft sur place, la couleur est d’un beau cuivre, elle sent ce qu’elle est, menthe, genvrier, beaucoup le genvrier, en bouche les pices sont agrables, elle est piquante, la finale est mince par contre.

A fascinating beer, unique and flavorful. Big minty aroma, super fresh. More "beery" flavor, clean malts, with still a lot of mint, especially as it warms. The mint really dominates this but only in the way that smoke dominates a good smoky beer; in other words, it plays off the flavors and offers a nice counterpart. I thought this was very well done.

On tap @ the brewpub. Amber pour without much head. Aroma of mint and some fruitiness, perhaps berries. The taste echoes the aroma, though I must say I was expecting a bit more of the minty element to come out. Fortunately, you get more mint to appear in the finish, which is refreshing. I liked this, though I like Fantome a bit more when it comes to minty beers.

Glouglouburp (6103) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 21, 2007
Clear golden-copper body with a medium beige head. Smooth and full body. Rye is apparent and its accompanied light spiciness and astringency makes this one highly drinkable. Sweet breakfast jam type of fruitiness. Mint is also very apparent but not disturbing. Hint of lavender. Kind of hard to describe actually how all these flavours come together and it always amazes me how the whole thing actually works. Unusual. A mint beer, fresh breath for your alcotest.
