(30 aot 2011)

Draft at brewpub. Amber, decent head. Aroma rich with maple and pecan pie filling. The palate is soft. Its very sweet with not enough malt depth, but it doesnt become cloying or sticky either, probably because of the light body. So, its not bad for a sweet beer but could be better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Golden- copper w loose head. Aroma is a bit caramelly. Lots of maple on the sweet palate w some caramel stickiness. Decent interpretation, if you like things like maple doughnuts.

on tap at the brewpub. pours dark yellow, almost orange, with a thin white head that quickly goes away. aroma has mild notes of hops, while the toasty cereal and bready notes completely take over. taste is sweet, but im not getting as much maple syrup as i thought i would. somewhat disappointing. medium bodied, sticky almost syrupy on the palate with low carbonation. not bad but not very good either.

In short: A sweet and bland maple syrup flavoured entry level golden ale
How: Tap at brewpub. Aged 9 months batch
The look: Clear dark golden body topped by a little white ring of foam
In long: Shy sweet nose. Seems like this maple-syrup beer looses its maple syrup character when aged because this batch served at 9 months of age only delivered a little maple syrup flavour. Nothing wrong with that if the beer had something else going for it but it doesnt. Body is rather bland with soft carbonation and slightly oily texture. Flavour of some kind of juice with brown sugar and some maple syrup. Too sweet with nothing to dry it out and no bitterness whatsoever. Alcohol is apparent despite the moderate 8% abv. Ill try this when fresh. This aged batch was a gimmicky beer called Lollipop sold to suckers.

A lightly hazed golden ale with a thin white head. A lightly iodine start, with belgian hops and maple, sweet aroma. In mouth, a rather light beer, sweet maple, rather short in mouth. Light bodied. Festival Bires et Saveurs, August 29 2008.
