UPDATED: MAR 4, 2012 Re-rate 2/29/12: Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Dror. Almost clear brown color with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, a bit of chocolate and some hops. Sweetish flavor, somewhat roasty, with mildly bitter and finish with faint citric notes. Medium-bodied. Decent, but most of the hops are gone unfortunately. 7/3/6/3/13=3.2

[10/4/11] Draught at Ølbaren in Copenhagen. Hoppy aroma of tropical fruits. Flavor has a bit of sweetness and a bitter fruity hops finish. Medium-bodied. 7/3/7/3/14=3.4

Sampled at CBF11 Deep copper. Cats-piss and urinoar-sanitizer. Rubber and stable. Pretty sour with some grassy bitterness.

Transparent slightly hazy reddish brown beer with a tan head. The aroma is roasted malty and flowery with notes of nuts, gooseberry and tropical fruits. Malty flavor, medium sweet, with medium hop bitterness and notes of grapefruit and a little licorice. The body is light, texture oily, soft carbonation. Dry bitter finish. I really want to dig this - but I don’t. Too smooth.

On tat @fairbar, Aarhus. Deep brown body with a small tan head. Good lacings. Nose of exotic fruits and roasted caramel. Hoppy flavor of tropical fruits, citrus and roasted malts. Medium bodied, watery to oily texture and soft carbonation. Very nice bitter finish. Black IPA is one of my favorites but I think this one needs more roasted malts.

Draught at Ørsted, Copenhagen
Dark brown color. Very nice fruity aroma, I smell apples too with the passion fruit. Dry mouthfeel; the carbonation makes the mouthfeel smooth; the roasted malts are not excessive, while the hopping is powerful. Very pleasant.

Bottle. Pours very dark brown with dense dark tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Initial aromas are dominated by tropical fruit aromas of the hops. The very quickly give way to some rainy pine, roasted grain, a little light chocolate and perhaps a hint of skunkiness. Flavours show of the grain nicely with plenty of roast astringency and some hope bitterness coming through on the finish. Medium mouth feel

Bottle shared at Øl og matfestivalen. Dark brown , huge beige head. Roasty aroma of dark fruits, plenty of hops. Complex roasty taste with coffee, tropical fruits, licorice and spices. Good dry hoppy ending

KØ11. Mild grassy aroma. Dark brown colour. Small frothy tan head. The flavour is sweetish with a bit of bread. Hint of grassy hop.

Grima (2511) - Merzkirchen, RLP, GERMANY - JUN 29, 2011
In the glass, black as night, with lots of brown foam. Smells very aroma hoppy, Cascade, also slightly like dark malts and caramel. The beer starts with a heavy malt body, roasting coffee-bitter, with a wonderful aroma hops in the background, which increase more and more, by time. The finish turns out again very strong to dark malts, slightly bitter, with strong aromas of roasted coffee. Terrific beer!

Japalo (1887) - DENMARK - JUN 29, 2011
Bottle. Haze dark Brown. Medium foam and body. Aromas of caramel- citrus but more on the cereal side. Mild sweet dry-bitter finish. Liked the fat cat better.
