Draught @ Carlsens Kvarter, Odense. Pours dark brown with a small creamy stable head and lacings. Nose is very hoppy with notes of pine and grapefruit. Palate is smooth and soft. Bottle. Dark brown with huge pale brown head. Aroma of grapes and roasted malts. Nice. Taste hoppy, dry grape, some bitterness, and a bit of malt in the background. Given only 4.7% ABV this is an amazingly taste beer, but I can´t see the meaning of the black IPA style. FatPhil (16102) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JAN 13, 2011

7 Lovely hoppy aroma as it pours, fruity and crisp and exciting. Closer up, there’s a pleasant chocolateyness too. Pucker!
5 Looks beatiful, tremendously dark red, almost black, and a huge persistent frothy tan head.
7+ Lovely well-balanced taste. Plenty of toasty roast, hints of cocoa, and a lovely wave of new world hops delicately pop above that to crown it nicely.
4+ Refreshing palate, pleasant carbonation. Finish has a touch of the cocoa again, and again, a lovely subtle spicy zesty hopiness.
15 I’ll confess to having a quick peek at the ratings, and there was 3.6 after 3.6 after 3.6 - I was fully expecting a dull beer being robotically given good marks by homers or fanboys. Which was stupid really, considering who the brewer is. Anyone who only gave this 3.6 doesn’t like good beer! All in 4.7% - this is so well made. I raise a glass to Christian, may I get to taste many more.
