Bottle from Systembolaget. Dark rownish red in color, a small short-lasting off-beige head. Very hoppy aroma with ctrus and pine, some resin as well. Thin to medium body with a fizzy carbonation, a lomg bitterness finishes off. _angst_ (4802) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - SEP 10, 2011
Bottle bought @ Systembolaget and consumed on September 10. Labeled as Høst Citra. Pours dark brown with a rather thin fizzy head that stays for longer than expected. Smell is fresh and filled with citrus fruits like grapefruit, lemon and lime. Smells a lot like a well hopped IPA. Taste is bitter and refreshing. The citrus is dominant here too but there is also malty sweetness and some ash. The taste is also very IPA like which I guess makes this more of a black (brown) IPA than a brown ale. Very nice and refreshing! sebletitje (10080) - Enghien, BELGIUM - SEP 7, 2011
50cl bottle (labelled as Host Citra), bought @ Systembolaget Avenyn, Göteborg. Last day of visit, shared with Gnoff.

Thanks to sebletitje!
Purchased from Systembolaget Avenyn, Göteborg. Sampled on September 5, 2011
Clear dark brown to red color, tan head. Citrus, lemon, hoppy scent. Malty, sweet, hoppy, alcohol taste. Smooth mouthfeel, high bitterness.

Bottle. I would’nt have guessed this being a brown ale. It’s really all about citrus hops. Lots of blood orange and grapefruit notes. Quite bitter. Sure, there are some more brown ale-like chocolate notes in the background. But there in the bakcground really. This one tastes more lika a Black IPA or something like that. Bottle bought @Kihoskh, København, enjoyed at home. Pours a clear, beautiful brownish-ruby body, with a moderate cream-ish light choco top. Aroma is a nice-smelling blend of bready and caramel-scented malts vs citrus- and tropical fruity hops. Taste has a bold and clean bitterness, not giving much room for hop flavor. Lightly roasted, dark bready and choclatey malts in the background. Well-bodied. Creamy texture. Strong bitter ending. Smells great, taste is a tad too bitter to be fully balanced. Not your everyday Brown Ale. Overall, an exciting and tasty beer experience. VsXsV (4442) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - SEP 1, 2011
500 ml bottle from Systembolaget.Clear, brown liquid with medium to big tan head. Aroma is quite fruity, hoppy and a bit roasted with notes of grapefruit, tropical fruit, soapy hops, roasted malt, coffee, citrus and mango. Good balance. Taste is hoppy and a bit chocolatey and roasted with heavy bitterness (for the style) and light sweetness. Medium bodied with OK carbonation and lingering, bitter finish. Maybe a bit too high bitterness for the style. Some alcohol is noticed as well, but it isn’t that disturbing. The balance is a bit off because of the bitterness. Still good though, the freshness of the Citra hops helps freshen up a quite robust brown ale. omhper (25153) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - AUG 28, 2011
Bottled. Clear brown, smal lfirm head. Aroma of coffee and pear-like hops. Medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Lots of pears and resin. Inky mega-bitter finish. Seriously over hopped. JanLaursen (3227) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - AUG 20, 2011
Bottle, 50 cl: Very brown, nearly opaque, beer with a frothy beige head. Roasty and fruity aroma with loads of caramel, grapefruits and tropical fruits. Taste is medium sweet and heavy bitter with lots of fruity notes: Tangerine, pinapple, mango and grapefruit. Medium body, thick oily texture, average carbonation and a long, dry and bitter hoppy finish. Brown ales can be a drag - but this one is beautiful and fresh!
