English: Belgian Strong ale finished with lactic acid bacteriae and matured on Danish red wine casks with sour cherries.

Drunk to celebrate my rating number 22,000. Bottled. A murky dark red beer with a lazing red-tan head. The aroma has notes of wood, cherries, brettanomyces, and some acetone. The flavor is sour with strong notes of sour cherries, alcohol, wood, and brettanomyces, as well as medium notes of vanilla, prunes, and vinegar, leading to a dry, tart, and woody finish.

Bottle. Muddy red brown coloured with a medium sized fast disappearing beige head. Light acidic aroma of red wine, wood, glue and cherries with notes of alcohol, vanilla and dried fruits. Light acidc flavour of red wine, dried fruits and cherries with notes of marzipan, wood and alcohol. Tart and warming alcoholic finish. Nice with some alcohol to balance the acidity.

Bottled@Konttori, Tampere. Murky brown colour, small beige head. Aroma is sour fruits, some mild cherries and quite strong bitterness. Flavour is sour cherries, quite much alcohol and wooden sourness. Not that exciting though.

Bottle courtesy of Beerandblues2, thanks! Cloudy brownish maroon color, tan edge head. Aroma of sour cherries, lemon meringue, brandy. Taste is sweet and softly sour candied maraschino cherries, hints of cocoa and subtle coffee. Booze shows through.

Dirty dark red beer. Sour woody cherry nose. Dry crisp palate. Unsweet and slightly sour cherry with an edge of wood. Almost bitter not quite. An intense fruity beer but ultimately more interesting than inspiring.

Papsoe (25059) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAY 29, 2009
On tap. Pours a hazy and opaque reddish brown with absolutely no head. Intense cherry aroma. Surprisingly full-bodied, completely flat with distinct cherries and wood. Mouthfeel is a little tired. Strange bird indeed. 160509
