COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: In the Trappist monasteries an extra strong and good ale was brewed during the lent to keep the hunger at bar. The sweet drops on an empty stomach, combined with the much idle time occasionally led to less steadfast members of the order giving in to more earthly excesses. They went under the name "Malus Pater" - the bad father. With this ale inspired by the trappists you can now even do the same. And remember: God sees everything, but he doesn’t tell!

dambor (688) - Berlin, GERMANY - NOV 28, 2014
Pours ruby red with small head. Aroma: yeast, malt, some earthy aromas. Taste: not sweet (contrary to what I would expect from a quad), full bodied, with some hopps in the background. Well hidden ABV. A good quad, but I was expeting a more revolutionary attitute to this style from the brewers!

thebeertourist (5189) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 15, 2014
On tap at Olympen. Dark brown, small head. Dark fruit and nutty nose. More nuts in the mouth plus dust and sweeter prunes and plums. A great dessert beer it is.

AgentAle (1743) - Alberta, CANADA - OCT 26, 2014
Aroma is light apples, pear, belgian candy sugar, sweet malts, yeast and slight carbonation. Taste is similar to aroma with a nice sweet dark fruit character. The candy sugar is fairly pronounced and met with a slight and well balanced bitterness. Appearance is a very dark and clear amber body with a pearl head that retains fairly poorly.

Keg from the Black Heart in Camden. Alcohol surprisingly well hidden for the ABV, very smooth, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and caramel all coming through. Satisfying beer.

Dette er snop, sier dr Melberg denne fine maikvelden på Mandag i annen. Og den er sannelig lett å helle innpå, farlig lett for omdreiningshastigheten. Vi skåler for en tam dag på jobben i morgen!

Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2014
Tap at Taphouse, Copenhagen. Appearance is an impenetrable dark brownish red. Small tan ring of head. Aroma is earthy, meaty, tootsie roll. Tastes similar, with added dark fruits like fig and red grape, plus a touch of cola. It’s good. This isn’t far off some of the better Belgian quadrupels.

[email protected], CPH (30/04/14) - dark brown pour with small tan head. Dark dried fruits combine with sweet dark malts, caramel chocolate, nutty, brown sugar, smooth mouthfeel. Lovely stuff this.
