COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: In the Trappist monasteries an extra strong and good ale was brewed during the lent to keep the hunger at bar. The sweet drops on an empty stomach, combined with the much idle time occasionally led to less steadfast members of the order giving in to more earthly excesses. They went under the name "Malus Pater" - the bad father. With this ale inspired by the trappists you can now even do the same. And remember: God sees everything, but he doesn’t tell!

Bottle at home. Pours a dark brown with a diminishing off white head. Sweet with aromas of cereals and Belgian yeast. Hints of dired dates. Also some alcohol aromas. Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry finish mith more dates and hints of cookies.

hawthorne00 (3984) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUN 25, 2012
Dubiously satirical bottle. Pretty much black with a light tan head that lasts. Quite surprising. Aroma of soy sauce, treacle, raisins, figs, prunes. Syrupy mouthfeel with low carbonation. Sweet, bitter and salty, with dried fruits, singed toffee, spices, quite a lot of bitterness. Soy sauce less prominent than the first whiff suggested. Obviously strong, but not much heat from the alcohol - just a little with some sweet shop spices at the end. Not much like strong dark Belgian beers and kind of crude, but compelling.

pintbypint (3670) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 25, 2013
Rating #2300. 500ml brown bottle. Deep brown, rapidly receding tan head. Nose has fruit notes of raisin, cherry also some caramel, cola and chocolate malt. Taste has dark fruit and dark chocolate. Some roast/dark malt and hop bitterness at the end. Light hops in the aftertaste, bit of smooth alcohol and dark fruits. Big body. A well put together quad that drinks easily for it’s strength.

maneliquor (3514) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 11, 2011
Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours a gluggy black with a small tan head. Loads of chocolate and belgian yeast on the nose. Heaps of chocolate cocoa and fudge like characteristics in this one. Has a very liquorice like finish. Good beer

3.7
Defreni (3254) - Husum, DENMARK - JUL 30, 2010
Fad: Brun uklar øl med et tæt skumhoved. Duft af tørrede frugt og blomster fra duft. Mundfylden er udmærket med let karbonation. Lidt ung i sit udtryk, men meget drikbar. Alkoholen er fuldstændig skjult, gæren er ikke så dominerende. Fin øl men mangler en lille smule for at være helt oppe at ringe.
