Bottle. It pours an opaque dark brown with a creamy light tan head. The aroma is loads of sweet caramel, sweet ripe fruit, dates, raisins, light alcohol and dark fruit. The flavour is dark sweet ripe fruit and loads of caramel. Some alcohol in the finish. Nice but heavy stuff. Maria (10211) - Thisted, DENMARK - SEP 14, 2010
It’s black with a light red hue and a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of dark fruit, hops, yeast, preserved fruits and caramel. The flavour is sweet and vinous with notes of dark fruits, prunes, raisin, plum, caramel and the finish is slightly dry. It’s a nice and complex beer. Draught at Lord Nelson, courtesy of and shared with Papsoe (thanks!), Blackish colour, tanish head... the light here really isn’t brilliant for rating appearance. Sweet malty fruity nose, figs, sticky but in a good way, some grain, maybe weak honey. Nice balanced sweet malty taste, rosehip jam notes, the alcohol isn’t there much in the taste but this is certainly warming. Not the type of beer I’d immediately call my favorite, but it really is a sublime thing that grows on you. Benzai (16705) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUL 22, 2011
Bottle I bought at De Molen, shared with DutchDrebus. Brown color, ok smell and good taste. Also good carbo and medium to full body, alcohol not strongly present even though the beer is 10%ABV. gunnar (9703) - Sandnes, NORWAY - MAR 19, 2012
Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Pours dark as Coke with a small tanned head.Aroma of deep red fruits, caramel. Taste is deep malty, spicy and some wood. Lingering malty aftertaste, with some liquorice and herbs. Full bodied, nice.

Good solid old skool interpretation. Spice and stinky soy / vegemite drive the flavours. There’s a little milk chocolate and minerals to finish. Hides the 10% abv very well and this is quite quaffable for a quad. MiP (15973) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - MAY 30, 2013
Draught. Weak aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour. Big stable creamy light brown head. The flavour is malty and sweetish with a good bready note. Vinous touch as well. Flavourful and well-balanced. VertBaconStrips (2402) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - DEC 29, 2013
Decent flavour, zero hints of the 10%. Mild peppermint candy nose, roasted malts on the sweet side nose, raisins nose, blueberries nose, plum nose, dark caramel nose has taken over the previously claimed roasted malt nose, nose, fresh nose, good nose. Digging this taste - smooth taste and slightly oily taste, sweet dark caramel taste, brown sugar taste, plum taste and date taste, bitter harshness taste after I dumped in the sludge taste, taste, sort of chocolate taste or whatever taste that taste is that I am tasting taste. Radical, dude. Fucking iPhone keeps spell checking ’taste’ as ’Tate’ and every time it reminds me of former American coffee heiress Sharon Tate. Insert whatever here. andrewturba (1190) - Alberta, CANADA - FEB 28, 2014
Pours a semi transparent brown with a small beige ring of head. Aroma is dark sugars/syrups, dark dried fruits, light chocolate notes, pepper mixed with mint(best way I can describe this one), and caramel. Flavour is dark dried fruits, dark sugars, some roasty qualities, some light spicy Belgian yeast phenols, moderately sweet, a mild bitterness mixed with faint alcohol(blended in there quite well) and faint chocolate. Nocturne (1992) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2014
Tap at Taphouse, Copenhagen. Appearance is an impenetrable dark brownish red. Small tan ring of head. Aroma is earthy, meaty, tootsie roll. Tastes similar, with added dark fruits like fig and red grape, plus a touch of cola. It’s good. This isn’t far off some of the better Belgian quadrupels.
