BMan1113VR (7930) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 25, 2013
On tap. Near black pour with a minimal tan head. Aromas are of brown sugar, cocoa, floral hops, pine and some minerals. Resiny, low esters. Too much malt and probably a touch faded on the hop profile. Flavors are pine, molasses, coffee, brown sugar, medium sweet yet strongly bitter. Not my sort of Black IPA. Thin yet sweet, medium carbonation with a resiny finish.

3.3
brokensail (16696) - Dublin, California, USA - APR 21, 2013
Murky dark brown pour with a khaki head. Big roasted malt and cocoa aromas. Pine, grapefruit, and chalk. A bit of floral hop aroma, caramel, and bread. The flavor is moderately bitter and very heavy on the roast and chocolate. Pine, grapefruit, and hints of grass. Lots of chocolate, some floral hops, caramel, and bread.

savnac (2656) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - MAR 12, 2013
Growler. Murky dark brown with a thick, creamy, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, wheat bread, citrus and pine. Flavor is malty chocolate and coffee, bread dough and a firm hop bitterness. Medium to full body with a fairly dry mouth feel. Pretty good beer, could use more hop character though.

3.5
BrewDad (5667) - Olympia, Washington, USA - FEB 27, 2013
Dark black in color thin head. This was a super big dark malt madness with added hops. I got more of a porter like chocolate flavors rather than the light IPA malt flavors. Tad thick for me.

3.5
after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - JAN 31, 2013
Draft at sb. Pours a grainy dark mahogany with a dense and creamy tan head. Mild baking chocolate nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Baking chocolate and toasty fallen leaves on the mid palate, maybe a little ashy in spots. Long dry toasty bitter chocolate finish.

trujahwarrior (515) - Monroe, Washington, USA - JAN 29, 2013
On tap, pours a muddy brown color with a medium off white head that leaves good lacing. Smells of roasted malt, pine, molassas and chocolate. Tastes of all the same things on the nose with a good hop bite on the back end. Mouthfeel is medium and creamy with medium carbonation. Overall this a pretty good tasting cda the chocolate and molassas shines through the most.

3.7
oRos (1674) - sacramento, California, USA - JAN 28, 2013
Color is black/Brown with white head. Taste is roasted malts with a hop taste. Seems like a black IPA with not quite the hops good brew.

3.6
marcus (10975) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 28, 2013
On tap at Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours dark brown with a rich tan head and a light treacle aroma. There is a chocolate and dark molasses flavor that sticks to the palate. Has that flat dry characteristic typical of a black IPA.
