3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draught at Lucky Labrador Barleywine and Big Beer Festival. 2011 vintage. Hazy golden color. Hoppy, but not as much as it could be. Sweet caramel and spice on finish.
Piney hop aroma.. some toasted malts and a touch of caramel sweetness.
Big bitterness and slightly less than balanced malts... but this brew makes no apologies... some toastiness and a little more caramel but both are stripped away by the piney hops. Body is a little lighter than expected given the ABV.

Pour is a hazy brown with tan and purple notes. Small tan head that retains and leaves some spotty lacing. Smell is malty sweetness, caramel, toffee, and leather. Taste is sweetness balanced against sour berries and soy sauce. Buttery, sweet cream, almonds linger in the aftertaste. tysongillmore (362) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 21, 2015
I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.

22 oz bottle from brewery. Pours out a nice orange/ruby/amber hued body, with small foamy head. Lots of sweet malt in the aroma, taste is more sweet malt, molasses, vanilla and some instant alcohol warmth. Pretty accessible for the style. martinrumsam (572) - BARNSTAPLE, Devon, ENGLAND - DEC 26, 2014
Bottle. Hazy mid brown pour with thin tan head. Malty aroma. Initial taste was quite harsh bitter. Some malty caramel sweetness developed but never truly hit the spot of a great barley wine. A bit disappointed.

On Tap at Taphouse, Boise Murky hazy golden. Rather Hef looking actually. Big thick fluffy off white head, Lots of mig sweet maltiness. A bit under hopped maybe but rich and smooth and tasty, Fin (11069) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 11, 2014
Bottle picked up at Beers of Europe, consumed at Isobel’s, Saturday 11th October 2014 Pours a gloomy looking mid murky brown. Thick and a little syrupy in mouth. Really surprised with this as it is hugely bitter, the bitterness having a hard and quite harsh edge which contrasts quite sharply with the heavy sweetness. Likeable beer but glad I was able to share with dad and Baz. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov14 3.3 slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 5, 2014
"this beer look and played the part of a prototypical barleywine. but while it had all the elements, it was not as great as the sum of it’s part. caramel malt, hops, slight alcohol presence...check, check, check. decent, but nothing stood out, and the body was average. for the price, i’ll pass."

Bottle at a barley wine tasting. Pours a clear light amber color. Nose has some slight booze on there with a fair amount of caramel coming off it. Taste has some slight caramel sweetness to it, and felt pretty light to me. johndoughty (5600) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - JUN 14, 2014
Bottle. Bronze with a medium head. Clear appearance and malty with a trace of hops in the background. Powerful presence of alcohol. An excellent beer that demands respect.
