Medium copper colored ale, hopped with Cascades for an assertive hop flavor and aroma.

Draft at Logan, Pier C. Amber ot copper in color. Citric aromas dominate, yet some light grains and malt do seem to creep through at times. Toasted to nutty malt is quickly replaced with citric hops. An APA, what can I say. Malt and hops with enough sweetness and backbone to take this beyond an amber.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2008 Draft at the Fenway location - sampled 10/5/08 - Poured a light amber in color with a small whitish head that did not stick around. Aroma was quite malty and sweet with a hint of hops. Flavor was also, initially, mildly malty sweet with a medium hop bitterness. No that distinguished, but an easy drinking beer.

tangy and hoppy from the keg at salem beer works. clean seperation from good refreshing and appropriate pale ale flavors and body. nice biscuity and slightly sweet it has perhaps a caramel flavor paired well in mouthfeel which is a touch silky and yet not harsh at all. this is a brew that i can stew over.

Tap at Fenway. Pours a light golden with a thin diminishing head. Aroma is light citrus hops with lots of toasted malts, and lightly herbal and earthy hops as it warms. Crisp and relatively clean compared to some other brews from them, cereal crackery malts, ligth hop bitternes.

On tap: This was a nice enough Pale that had some dry/bitterness in the finish. Okay but I preferred others in the flight and wouldnt be ordering this one again.

Tap at Canal Street Location: Clear golden pour with a creamy, light tan head that leaves a nice lacing. Has a mild and smooth cascade character. Light grainy citrus aroma. Theres no complexity or nuances, but I enjoy the cascade flavor. Needs more bittering hops, but its decent stuff.

Had this on draught at the brewpub on Canal. Clear, deep amber pour with a filmy white head, piney hoppiness in the nose, granny smith apples and roses in the taste, a nice, clean finish. A good APA.

Draught pint at Fenway locale on 7/31/07
Peachy-copper colored body is full of bubbles, sporting a frothy white head that recedes to cover, leaving minimal lace.
Sweaty hops and some yeast in the nose, giving not an overly fresh nose. Its not dirty or anything, just a bit on the cheesy, grassy, catty side, with too much straightforward grapefruit and bitterness. Malt sweetness is fairly strong, relatively speaking and further sweetens things, though the simple base malt sugars add little/no complexity. Medium strength of aroma, obviously plenty of batch-to-batch variation. No alcohol or flaws, however.
Moderate carbonation helps dispense some of the sweetness, which is quite plain and does build up on the palate, with rather plain citrus hops adding candied orange, white grapefruit and some lemon notes. Bitterness could stand to be elevated to really dry it out, that or the attenuation taken up a notch. I think what bothered me the most was a persistent papery/flabby feel to the malt, which in turn, got bogged down in some wateriness on the end. Competent and probably a lot better off-season.
