Cannonball is an India Pale Ale in the true tradition, high in alcohol and massively hopped to survive a long sea voyage. We don’ t want you to wait though, crack the cap and let the flavour explode on your palate. Tropically fruity, resinous hops compete against a sweet malty backbone, while a rasping bitterness builds to a mouth puckering crescendo. Our hop bomb might just blow you away…

330ml can bought at HK Brewcraft in Central.

Looks: Cloudy hazy golden honey colour with a fine mist of yeast particles; Half finger head with soapy white foam which fades in 40 seconds; Excellent sticky lacing with zero carbonation.

Aroma: Very fragrant Ale malt, with rich mango pulp, strong passion fruits, cat piss, orange, grapefruits, candied fruits, papaya, strong floral nectar, sugar, pine, resins, spices, lemon peel and grass. Fruity galore!

Taste: Close to medium sweet Ale malt, with mangoes, fresh grapefruits, strong floral, sugar, strong pine, resins, spices, herbs, biscuits, yeast, strong lemon, quite strong bitter hops and fresh grass.

Body: Full body; Thick, creamy and oozy palate.

Mouth Feel: Full Ale maltyness in a thick background, thick and rich. Hoppy as hell, with nice fresh grapefruits and mangoes to anchor fine floral, strong pine, ooze, spice and herbs. Sweetness is quite strong but nice for a fine sweet and oozy bitter balance. Fairly boozy but tasty Strong lemon to round. Excellent!

Hoppiness: Mango pulp, passion fruits, cat piss, orange, grapefruits, candied fruits, papaya, floral nectar, pine, resins, spices, lemon peel and grass in nose. Grapefruits, mangoes, strong floral, strong pine, resins, spices, herbs, strong lemon and fresh grass in taste; Bitterness is strong for a lasting. High Astringent sweet-bitter herbal malty finish.

After taste: Fairly dry. Fruity, oozy and strong bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one is a full-on West Coast IPA, with Simcoe and Citra in lorry loads for that amazing mango aroma and nice fresh grapefruit taste. With good looks, nice sweet malts fine-tuned hoppiness and well-expressed booze, this is the template for a great modern IPA. Two thumbs up!

Don't drink this in the summer! You arrive down the tap around 12pm and it's a glorious summers day. Solid 22 degrees. You think to yourself 'I'll have a cannonball. Be rude not to!' Good idea right? WRONG! Next thing you know you're 9 pints in, best part of £50 lighter and crawling out the gates having text your ex-ex-ex girlfriend because that seems like a good idea. You're on a one way trip to disappointment and shame. Having said that it goes down a treat. Tastes like an IPA should and not as boozy as you'd expect. Best thing these lads and lasses make by far.
