I've had this multiple times. Not fully sold on the base beer. Very sweet and teriyaki like. Feel like I should be pouring this on my chinese food. andrewje41 (4754) - Kenmore, Washington, USA - FEB 19, 2018
22 oz bottle poured, enjoyed during a blind barrel aged beers tasting. Always gotta throw in a beer that isn't barrel aged to see if it can be identified by the group. Why not make it a Dark Lord? To be honest, my novice beer mind never even looked into whether Dark Lord is barrel aged as a regular beer. Novice here. Doesn't matter though, the beer is good. A seriously huge thanks to prufrockstar for the bottle. One of the finest folks I've had the pleasure of meeting on this site. Cheers to you, my friend! Green sparkling wax, so a 2017 I'd have to assume. No indication for me during the blind that this was a non barrel aged entry. I picked up plenty of bourbon notes. I suppose you don't need a barrel to have bourbon notes come through. Either that or you just need to be enjoying great beers in a blind tasting, expecting it. Dense, near black pour. Rich chocolate forward nose. Sweet for sure, but it's not enough to turn me off of it. Has a vanilla like creaminess to it. Reminded me of a dessert stout, so revealing this bottle was quite a surprise. Toasty malt, cinnamon, coffee. Quite bitter in the end as well. The first time I tried Dark Lord was with Tcon down at a little pizza restaurant in Seattle several years ago. The owner had pulled one out of the cellar to enjoy with some friends and wouldn't stop talking about it. After a couple questions from a couple of beer lovers that had only wished to have tried it, she mentioned that she had about a quarter bottle left, but that it had been sitting for hours and hours. Didn't care. Was good under those conditions. Even better in a fine setting like this tasting. A really enjoyable beer for sure. Hope this isn't my last experience with it. Thanks again, Chris! sseb69 (2039) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 17, 2018
Bouteille Blue Wax. C'est exeptionnel. ljthiessen (1550) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - JAN 30, 2018
I've had Dark Lord a few times, including several variants. Over the years I've come to find it excessively sweet and having a strange teriyaki / soy sauce note that puts me off. It's a huge, rich bomb of an imperial stout, but far too sweet and some weird stuff going on. Perhaps with some years of age I will enjoy it once again. sjogro (5403) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JAN 18, 2018
UPDATED: JAN 19, 2018 Bottle at home massive thanks to Maakun. Burgundy wax/2015. Black with no head. Oh boy. So sweet. Pancake syrup. Honeydipped rye bread. Cinnamon, roasted paprika, bell pepper, maple syrup. Massive chocolate, toffee, chocotoff experience, light tobacco. Fluffy yet syruppy mouthfeel, black candyfloss. So sweet and smooth. Quite deep and strong bitter. Slight moldy, truffle-like plottwist. Alcohol trying to punch me but can’t get through the syruppy cobwebs of caramel jizz hanging over it. Nice. Full bodied and soft carbonation. Tripping balls at a Belgian waffle stand. Pretty sweet. SATAN SATAN SATAN HAIL TO THE DARK LORD!

Bottle shared 2015 vintage. Black with short lasting light brown head. Coffee, thick molasses, pancake syrup (the Dutch kind), alcohol, toffee, light spices, thick sweet toffee malts, palm sugar sauce, lots of black plums, vanilla, leather. Very very sweet and some bitterness. Full thick creamy sugary body. Like drinking some kind of liquid sugar. But yeah it’s pretty good! MiliM (2) - - JAN 17, 2018 does not count

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2017 Bottle at home, 2015 ed. Pitch black, really thick pour, beige creamy head. Intense (!) sweet roasted malty nose with sweetened espresso, cacao, marzipan, vanilla, candied figs, red fruits, boozy. Aftertaste lingers long and sweet. Biggest body ever, low carbonation, velvety soft and oily mouthfeel. pjotrapostou (430) - POLAND - NOV 6, 2017
