COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In Mikkeller we have over the years done many collaboration brews. However, the last one we did was a little unusual – we collaborated with the Swedish tattoo studio Crooked Moon. The two brothers Jacob and Jonas Pedersen that run Crooked Moon Tattoo in Helsingborg wanted to celebrate their tattoo studio’s first birthday with a big party, and what could be more natural than to do it with a beer in their own name? The two brothers have designed the labels for this beer. And therefore this beer comes with two different labels. One by of Jacob, and the other by Jonas. The beer is just like a Crooked Moon tattoo: strong and powerful. In this case we are talking about a violently hoppy double IPA with 9% alcohol. You’ll find Crooked Moon / Mikkeller DIPA find on draft and bottled. The picture show the two labels – Jacob’s label design to the left and of course then, Jonas’ to the right.En dobbelt india pale ale.
Ingredienser: vand, malt, (pilsner, pale), humle (amarillo, citra, nelson sauvin, simcoe, sorachi ace), og alegær.

Pours cloudy golden with a large white head. Aroma is citrus, melon with a slight grape hint. Taste is unripened mango, citrus and theres a weird winey sourness involved that I can’t really work out before a bitter finish. Bit of a weird one but at the same time I quite like it.

Keg at the mikkeller bar Berlin mitte. A translucent golden orange coloured pour with a a lasting off white head. Aroma is alcohol, apple brandy, carmel, woody, Bourbon,. Flavour is composed of semi sweet tangy, apricot, apple brandy, oak, light caramel, pine. Solvent. Palate is medium bodied, alcohol, grainy, tanin, moderate carbonation. Interesting.

Aroma:
Medium aroma of malts, caramel, wood, vanilla, fruit, hops and citrus.

Appearance: 4
Turbid/opaque golden/amber beer with a slight off-white head.

Taste/Palate: 8/4
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, wood, vanilla and fruit; ends slightly bitter and dry with hops and citrus.

Overall: 17
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. There is some wood and vanilla shining through and I really have no idea why. Maybe the guys did not clean their tap thoroughly enough? Great fruit flavours and a decent bitter finish thanks to the hops. Great appearance and palate as well, but the aroma could have been stronger.

330ml bottle at home. Pours a hazy orange amber with some head. Very intriguing and spicy aroma. Lots of tropical fruit, orange, lemon, booze, resin, hops. Nice balance of intense tropical and citrus fruit with herbal and spicy hoppiness. Taste is very bitter, medium sweet, caramel and with a pronounced malt base. Fruity, though not as pronounced as in aroma. Finishes herbal and earthy, resiny side of the hops shows off here. Finishes a tad sugary and boozy too. Nice double IPA, flavour could be a tad more fruity or juicy for my liking but could be due to it being a tad old.

Fantastic IIPA. Lots of hoppy experience, with a sweet well balanced body. Don´t fear the high ABV.

Jól sikerült Imperial IPA. Eros, még sem alkoholos. Süteményes felhangokkal. (Elso Mikkeller csapfoglalás alkalmával a Jónásban, csapról).

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2017 Awesome deep cloudy orange beer with nice head on top leaving beautiful lacing to the sides of the glass. Aroma has sweet tropical fruits, citrus fruits, cantaloupe melon. Taste is really bitter with grapefruit and grass hops, maybe too much alcohol and ABV for this beer. Fullish body and medium carbonation.
