UPDATED: SEP 6, 2007 Bottle, poured a yellow golden with haze, orange and some floaters, huge head, every bottle of the Gold Pumpkin I have opened gushes over, sour scent with citrus, yeast, malt, fruit, little funky grass and sweet, little spices, pilsner, sweet, tartness, citrus, touch of sour, and carbonation on my tongue, the first time I had this ale, I was really taken by surprise, the ale is sweeter in the mouth then the scents let on to, very nice drink, I think of the Gold Pumpkin as the Champagne of beers, 12-18-06 Rating 7-5-9-4-18=4.3 .................................................. 5-30-07 750ml Bottle (with square label): poured a yellow gold that has a small glow and a little hazy, enormous billowing head, you have to pour quickly or waste this precious drink, aroma of spices, herbs, light malt encircled with a citrus sour and, faint sweet, yeast, pilsner malt and grapefruit fragrances, earthy and wood aromas, spicy sour, sweet, and pilsner malt flavors, carbonation gives this ale a light mouth feel, some pepper on the tongue, no presence of alcohol, it is hidden well, reminds of a Saison in some ways, finishes medium to very dry.

I do think that this one is more of a sour ale than a belgian ale. It is a very good pumpkin ale, part of the LCBO 2017 Summer Beer Program.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2018 Bottle. Appearance: clear light yellow golden, nice thick white foam getting into thin laces, low and subtle carbonation. Smell: very subtle brettanomyces, perhaps bread/cereals, very smooth vinegar. Taste: notes of lemon, bread and very smooth funk, nice low sourness and sugar, great texture and feel, medium drinkability. Overall: high quality and awesomely balanced beer, was expecting more complexity, but still highly enjoyable.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2017 Wow. Pours hazy pure gold with bright white head. Aroma of lime sorbet, pepper, barnyard and of course oak. Very oak forward with a hint of that malt peaking through the wild funk. not over dry but a clean finish. Very interesting.

Bottle from Clapton Craft. Failed Xmas cellaring attempt here... not upset though as this is sublime. Perfect marriage of the wild yeast character, apple sweetness and subtle oak. Really really top drawer stuff
