3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2006 Rating #900! and popping the cork on #69 of RB’s 70 beer styles. 750 ml, "Bottled 2005."
Well, the only common beer with a "900" in its name is Camo 900, so let’s do this instead. Besides, it’s symmetry: my first rating was Capitol 1900.
Pours light yellowish brown, looking a bit like apple juice. No real head, but some pinprick bubbles clinging to the side of the glass. Smell is pretty nice. I expected lots of sourness, but more cidery notes with a bit of wood. But taste is where the sourness comes in. Real brett sourness, no acid used here. Somehow a bit rubbery, then more of the crabapple cider. What else? Some butterscotch, mown hay that’s actually tripping my allergies. Yep, there are those stale hops, and a big barnyard character. Reminds me of that Berliner Weisse toward the end.So what do I compare this to, if it’s likely the only unblended lambic I’ll find outside of Belgium? It’s certainly a pleasure to have discovered and enjoyed this puzzle, so I’ll count my experience as part of the rating.

Aroma is lactic, yogurt, fermented white grapes and a tad vanilla. Funky! Taste is yogurt, old soaked oak, apple, fermented white grapes, muscadet. Mouthfeel is great, a tad wry, a tad yogurt and oil. Oily filter on the lips, very nice. Desverger (12609) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 23, 2017
Tap@Himmeriget, Copenhagen - (2014 vintage) orange Amber pour with tiny bubbly head. Sour fruity with. It's of orchard fruit, horseblanket, dusty, medium to high acidity, bretty, vinegar, tart fruity finish. djcampbell (332) - Moravany, CZECH REPUBLIC - SEP 21, 2017
Vynikající a velmi zajímavá zkušenost. Znalci lambiku ví. Skvělé po všech stránkách. Naprosto originální, nemám co víc napsat. mariuspoenari (2954) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - SEP 12, 2017
Clear amber pour. Completely still. Cantillon funk clearly identifiable: horse blanket, soft barnyard funk, overripe apples, with additional notes of honey, citrus, vinegar and brett. Smooth mouthfeel, medium body, no carbonation. A very nice unblended lambic, I am liking it more than I was expecting - I think I am starting to enjoy unblended lambic much more than I used to.

Bottle sample at a tasting at zvsn’s place. Thanks tomer. Bottled 2013. Golden-yellow with no head. The aroma has notes of wild yeasts, vinegar and wood. Sourish flavor with notes of vinegar, wood and some nail polish. Dry, light to medium-bodied. Very drinkable and enjoyable. scirtes (703) - POLAND - AUG 11, 2017
Bottle, edition 2010, bottled 2013. Light amber beer with no head, almost completely flat. Subtly sour with distinct woody notes. Medium bodied. Excellent. kaserov (928) - Oviedo, SPAIN - AUG 4, 2017
