5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: MAY 2, 2007 On tap at Three Floyds.
I let it sit on the bar for a while to let it warm up a bit. Smell is incredible. Think a very nice bourbon whiskey smell complimenting a very refined, well melded barleywine. Taste is absolutely amazing. This is one to sip all day. Every sip was velvety smooth and better than the last. This barleywine has transformed into a incredible beer while in the barrel. I could not get enough of this beer. The guys at Three Floyds have taken barrel aging to the highest level.
Very glad I had the chance to drink this.
2013 Bottle at Big Matt's thanks to Ian as it has been a long time want. Mahogany with dark white head. Smooth and boozy, dry and complex, raisin, prune, chewy, mild carbonation and full body, somewhat like a good christmas cake. Really enjoyed this one...curious to try some new vintages to compare but seemed to be at a great balancing point with a soft and great booziness that balanced things out amazingly well. dinkle50 (1599) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 24, 2017
Brown sewer water like pour with a very thin head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla. Taste is full of cherries, vanilla, toffee and a hint of caramel. Lingering sweetness on the finish. Lots of sugary notes and grain. Just loads of cherry as this warms up. Medium bodied. BRW (3073) - Barcelona, SPAIN - MAR 31, 2017

At the Barleywine event. Aroma is hops, caramel, booze, barrel, nice. Appearance is amber brown, light tan head, slightly hazy. Taste is caramel, hops, booze, barrel, toffee, sweet, I dig. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy body, light carbonation, booze and caramel hops aftertaste. Overall, I really like this.
