3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2013 Had this bottle for some time before opening. Pours a deep brown with a big tan head that lasts for 30 seconds. There is only a slight hint of bourbon in the aroma but not much. Mostly malts to the nose, somewhat chocolatey. Tastes a bit smokey with some dryness to it. Smooth mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
DO NOT AGE. Loses all traces of bourbon in less than 8 months. Should be drank fresh unless you want a roasty dry stout.
750ml bottle. No traces of bourbon at this point, comes off as a big roasty stout. Nice mouthfeel. Sweet cocoa tones. Roasty dry chocolate. Pretty drinkable despite some massive specialty malts. A solid Sout. italianjohn (3423) - Penndel, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2015
Black pour with one of the darkest heads I’ve ever seen dark tan brown head .... Aroma of dark chocolate malts, mocha flavors, Just lots of chocolate and cocoa ... Taste is of dry oak, chocolate and mocha flavors .... Perfect looking brew, light bourbon and vanilla flavors .... Some molasses to it .... Mouthfeel is thin and sadly not as good as I thought it would be kraddel (9680) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - FEB 25, 2015
2012 vintage . Pours black, not much of a head . Smell is rather sweet . chocolate and light roasted malts . Taste is bit bitter, chocolate bitterness . Burnt malts . Very overcarbonated . Ending is thin , bit metallic . madvike (3320) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 22, 2014
Bottle - Pours black with a thin tan head. Nose is milky, roasty, dry and ashy with lots of roast. Taste is real roasty, dry, ashy, and no trace of bourbon. Smooth body, with medium-thin and lots of carbonation. MrBunn (2870) - The Wet Side of a Dry Town, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 11, 2014
On tap at East Side for the Weird Beer Night. Deep brown body with a medium tan head. Aroma and flavor track nicely together and cluster around peat, smoke, charcoal and whiskey with a solid (but maybe not quite big enough) chocolate porter backbone. Solid, but a little more body would have made it shine.

Bottle. Black with a thick fluffy mocha head. Oaky light smoke aroma. Dark roasty malts on the taste with a bourbon note on the finish. Some chocolate too. Semi-rich mouthfeel, long finish. Very good. conway (2210) - - OCT 10, 2014
Bottle. Dark cola with thick tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, marshmallow and vanilla. Taste adds a little fudge,
char and some citrusy hops on the finish. Medium mouthfeel, strong carb and long finish. Really nice. slowrunner77 (13937) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 12, 2014
"Via grrumet. It’s a;ways a bit odd for me to try a smaller stout aged in barrels. I’ve had very good, and a few failures. This is more success than failure, though I’d still choose to barrel bigger brews. No indication of style on the bottle, and first whiff before pouring has hints of astringency and sour. Pours quite dark w/khaki head. A little on the tingly side, obviously not as thick as most BBA stouts, but it works with the flavor of light whiskey, heavy roast, coffee, chocolate and oak. Juuuust a hint of the astringent in there as well, but the flavor was superior to the nose. Good brew, flaws and all." Damico (3146) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 23, 2014
Pours thick dark unclear, 2012 is not infected like the 11 is! The aroma and flavor are very similar, bigger than 7% but not from booze, from the big molasses and bourbon and vanilla oak, but super smooth. The flavor brings big roasted malts and vanilla with a nice bitter smooth coffee ending. Gamin (146) - Brockport, New York, USA - FEB 14, 2014
Wood, vanilla, and booze in the aroma. Surprisingly smooth to drink though. I really like it, particularly this cask pour!
