4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 17, 2009 No head, flat as a pancake; near-black beer with reddish shine. Superb, alcoholic/fruity nose, complex, cognac-like, vanilla from new oak. Alcoholic, fusels, vanilla & Bourbon casks; sweet-ish, bananaester, oranges. Aftertaste with raisins in cognac. Very viscous, alcohol thinning the body. The nose is something out of a wet beer dream. The rest isn’t exactly bad, neither.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2017 A 2010 bottle drank on November 8 at Hair of the Dog. $30 for a 12 ounce bottle. Sounds expensive, but it was worth it. Easily the best beer of the night. JefVerstraete (3748) - Oosterzele, BELGIUM - OCT 20, 2017
Bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte. Black/brown colour, no head. Flat, no carbonation. Sweet, malty, notes of unripe apples, smoke, paint thinner, unripe vegetables. Hmm, strange combo of flavours, not really what I expected. Maybe a bad batch? Not the best beer I tasted. mvh83 (6) - 's-Hertogenbosch, NETHERLANDS - OCT 10, 2017 does not count
