With so little option in variation of beer styles in SE Asia this was a fantastic suprise. By normal standards its not the greatest but i was happy to find it when i did.

Stoked to find this!! Been drinking Singha and Chang for weeks...! Nice very mildly roasted and malty lager from Beerlao. Stoked to find the dark, didn’t know they made one of these. Simple, clean, mildly nutty, and really doesn’t taste like water! Burnt nut on the finish. I’m down!

You never expect much from these southeast Asian breweries, but this one isn’t bad. Not an american style dark lager though, more of a European style, not a dunkel though.

Il colore è anche buono, con leggera schiuma. Ma al naso e in bocca, rimane davvero poco...

Had this one bottled. Hazy, medium brownish pour topped with a one finger eggshell head and an earthy malty nose. Surprisingly grassy and vegetal, a little offputting. Muddy finish.

Jow (4085) - Orlando, Florida, USA - DEC 18, 2010
Bottle at Kin Shop. Pours a deep brown with thick frothy head. taste is very malty and sweet with some roasted breadyness and hops. Paired well with the spicy thai food i was eating even though I realize this is Laotion.

3.2
Heathen (1500) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - DEC 11, 2010
THOUGHTS: Not bad, but not great either. Surprisingly cloying. The hops in this one were pretty much just there to keep this from being nauseatingly sweet. It was a bit one sided, but it went down fairly easily. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, very dark, copper to dark, orangey bronze with nice carbonation and a large to huge, rocky, off-white head that mostly, but slowly diminished leaving excellent lacing. The aroma had a bit of dark bread; hints of chocolate and coffee; and metallic hops. The initial flavor was sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was rather to heavily sweet, lightly bitter and slightly sour with an average duration. There was caramel malt, a little roasted malt, hints of chocolate and coffee, slight metallic hops and some dark bread. The light to medium body was syrupy with rather fizzy carbonation and a fairly crisp and slightly astringent finish that get a little bit metallic as it warmed.
