Bomber. Strong burnt malt aroma. Flavor is devoid of hops. Disappointing for the hop bill. I’d guess this is an old bottle but the spot for the bottled on date is blank. Christpuncher (3135) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2015
strange smokey ham aroma dominates. has a roasted grain, smoke, and some ham flavors with a hoppy kick. pretty bitter finish. pours deep brown almost black with a tan head. had a draft at dryhop. troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - MAR 6, 2015
[Bottle] Black pour with a dark brown colored head. Notes of spruce, roasted malts and herbal bitterness in the nose. Flavors of dark roasted grains, tar, tobacco, pine resin and a vegetal bitterness. Somewhat grainy. Overall, a decent beer. alexsdad06 (10416) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 15, 2014
22 oz bottle shared by beerpig317. Pours dark brown to black in color with a medium sized khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malts, cocoa, earthy and citrus hops with moderate bitterness to the finish. Hints of resin. Medium bodied, decent black ipa. A clear brown ipa with a thin mocha head. In aroma, light chocolate malt with leads of resinous and piney floral c-hops, grapefruit, very nice. In mouth, a good bitter chocolate with good coffee notes and floral citrusy hops, burned toasts, very nice. On tap at Dryhop Brewers.

Hd it on tap at Dry Hop Brewers in Chicago. Poured a dark malty hue with a yellow head and uneven acing. Hop tasting beer with a clean finish. kaser (6312) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 23, 2013
Black pour. Brown head. Had this at dry hop. Malty and dry taste. Good balance of hops and earthy flavor. Like this a lot TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUN 16, 2013
Draft on tap at DryHop Brewers (Chicago, IL). Pours a well hazed brownish black hue, darker with some glow on the edges, brownish with some caramel. A frothy tannish head atop sits as a mellow layer, laces ok. Thicker ringer laces ok. Aromas offer mellow toasty malts, cocoa, dry earthy hops, bit of citrus, and decent florals. A bit of cocoa, toast. Initial is medium bodied, firm resiny and floral bitterness strikes the palate, grapefruit becomes good, with lemon, florals, and grass. Middle is a bit toasty, some cocoan firm resiny pine and medium bitterness hits the palate. Some grapefruit, florals, medium bitterness sustains. Backend shows a firmer maltbill, toasty and some biscuity elements show a touch of girth, the hop element keeps kicking. Cocoa, gentle roast, that telltale Black IPA malt vs. Earthy bitter and resiny hops battle. Finish is dry, a touch toasty, the hops are firmly bitter but not overdone. I’d personally appreciate more hops.. But overall this is very well constructed, good bitterness ratio while not getting away from a focus or just trying to cover up problems with hops. Cocoa, toasty, some caramel. Nice Black IPA right here. Happy this guy is a local.
