Grei.
A misplaced, so very belated review noted during a pub crawl in Oak Park, IL. very early in the season.(late Feb.) Served to plastic by Matt on the outdoor patio of the Marion St. Cheese Market, so any expressive aroma & flavor notes were a bit diminished by the cold atmosphere, and subsequently, very cold beer. Displayed a black/brown color, with a modest layer of frothy, brownish tan head foam. The aroma was roasty, with some baker’s chocolate, and a hint of burnt wood & smokiness. Medium bodied, with soft carbonation, the flavor contributed fair malt content, some mild astringency, and moderate, slightly earthy hop bitterness. A decent, even tempered Stout. nsquishee (641) - Richfield, Minnesota, USA - SEP 2, 2013
Pours dark, cloudy, and brown with a bubbly, tan head. Lightly roasty and semi-sweet aroma. Roasty, chocolate malt, biscuit, and light hop flavors. Nice stout, could also we considered a porter. Comparable to Founders Porter. kaser (6366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 19, 2013
Poured from bottle from West Lakeview Liquors. Black with off white head. Off white floaties in the glass. Light carbonation aroma. Chocolate notes. Cream. Overall pretty light and easy drinking. crossovert (13724) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 30, 2013
Dark brown pour, kahki head. Dry, roasty, peaty, slight sweetness. Huge dry roast flavor, sweet for the style but a very rich stout despite its gravity.

Mouthfeel is dry, astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, burnt wood and pine needles. Very drinkable... novels (424) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 8, 2013
Man, this one was really satisfying. Dark chocolate notes, roasted malt and a slightly sweet finish. Like drinking a campfire. anders37 (26878) - Malmö, SWEDEN - JUN 6, 2013

On tap @ Mikkeller. As good as black in the glass with a nice medium sized lacing ashy top. Smells light roasted, some chocolate, lots of milk chocolate actually and bitter burned coffee. Smells really nice. A little bit of vanilla also in here. Lovely flavors. Light burned, definitely heavy roasted, it’s not to dry, but definitely not to sweet either. About average on the carbonation with a light almost cloudy mouthfeel. Licorice lingering in the hoppy and roasted aftertaste. Nice stuff! 02.05.2013 rubbishystuff (2537) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 18, 2013
UPDATED: FEB 19, 2015 From gene’s. Full roasted flavor but not overwhelmingly so. Silky feel and quite chewy for the strength. Good stuff. Serving: bottle
