hazy yellow orange but pours with a decent and fluffy full white head which is lovely. Aroma is dank damp mustyness, and taste is pretty understated and takes time to develop with a hop note hiding in there adding weight and not at the front. Tasty and refreshing. beer-yum (1955) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 10, 2014
UPDATED: APR 19, 2015 Spicy aroma followed by smooth laid-back flavour. A fine local example of the breed. Jimthechap (2064) - Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 10, 2014
I was a little surprised by this bee as I had overlooked any mention of Saison on the label. It smelled authentic enough with grain, honey and basement there in spadefuls on a pale gold-yellow body with plenty of carbonation. The flavour was of rich honey and maybe some dry parmesan cheese, twinges of bitterness, citrus tangy sour and summery golden ales. It started as an enigma and grew to make much more sense. Not one for those who like their Saisons to be mysterious and subtle, but a tasty pint nonetheless KeefOz (1953) - Tarragindi, AUSTRALIA - FEB 20, 2014
Tasted 8/2/2014. Draught at "Vultures’ Lane", Auckland, NZ. Poured a translucent golden honey colour with a one-finger white head that diminished slowly and laced well. Carbonation moderate to high with large bubbles. Aroma of clean fresh sweet fruit and very mild hops - very nice. Taste clean and very sweet up front followed by sweet floral hops giving a good mid-palate taste then slightly sour on the back palate. Light body. Sweet fruity and then a dry finish. Ok to quite likeable (but over-priced at $10/pint in this craft beer bar).
