3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I had this on tap at the Belching Beaver Brewery. It’s a nice spicy pour with good flavor.
Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Peppery and fruity base, some faint stone-fruits, and lighter floral notes. Pleasant. GarrettB (1607) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 21, 2015
September 21st, 2013 - Saisons. Saisons everywhere. Even in my own backyard, here at the Belching Beaver. Evernote kept trashing on me today, so the appearance of the Saison de Beaver is lost to time immemorial. But words didn’t fail me. The aroma is simultaneously nutty and spicy, with especially rich scents of coriander and fresh, wet grains, like the smell of a brewery on a brew day. The flavor brings more complexity in - banana, clove and esters, with a perky palate. The aroma gives me saison signals, but the flavor is closer in semblance to a hefeweizen, except in the aftertaste where a surprising surge of grapefruit hops notes make a surprise appearance. On tap at Belching Beaver taproom in Vista, CA.
Slightly hazy, gold with off-white head and fair lacing.
Aroma of light fruit, cloves, tangerine, peat, banana and straw.
Taste of banana, cloves, light fruit, ginger, pear and light citrus.
Medium body and medium/low carbonization.
While this brew resembles a saison, it seems closer to a hefeweissen to me.

Keg at the North Park taproom, 15/11/14.
Clear light golden with a decent off white head.
Nose is tangy citric peel, tangerine, apricot, straw, spice.
Taste comprises straw, mandarin, tangy citrics, orange, lemon.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok saison, a little basic but ticks the boxes. skmikeg (1826) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2014
Pours a orange-yellow with a one finger white head with decent lacing. Aroma is of sour fruits, cloves, banana, light sourdough bread, pepper, and some light grassy hops. Taste is similar to the aroma with a lot of hefewezien flavors. Has a medium-light body with a slightly watery mouthfeel and a semi dry, mostly sweet, slightly boozy, medium finish. Overall, a decent Saison that is a tad too sweet and tastes more like a hefeweizen.

>> Full haze glowing peach golden. Good foam, great lacing. Nose is estery pear, extreme hefeweizen style not wanted in saison. Taste is dusty, chalky, flashes of sauerkraut. Chalky, tangy, papery mouthfeel.
Clear golden color with white head. Nice dry hay, dusty pils malt, dry spice, light fruit aromas. Medium body. Light fruit flavors with dry spices, Dusty pils malt, and earthy hoppage___good. peteinSD (1469) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 19, 2013
On tap. Slightly cloudy golden pour with a froth of white foam. Aroma is heavy clove and banana like a hefeweizen with some background spice and pepper. Taste is dominated by the clove and banana with some light pepper and a bit of dry orange and some background malt sweetness. Clean, lightly coating mouthfeel. Drinks like an imperial hefeweizen with a slight twist to me and from that perspective it was enjoyable. JohnnyJ (5570) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 16, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Cloudy golden orange pour, with a white head. Grain, sweet malt, banana, mild clove, and yeast. Too sweet for my liking of saisons.
