I love it. It tastes a lot like a Guinness, but with a malty/chocolaty richness inside it. It’s the (almost) perfect beer. All it needs is a bump up in alcohol content. cuatro22 (1) - Astoria, New York, USA - MAR 6, 2013 does not count
Firstly, for a dry Celtic Stout, this really has to be my favorite. Tasted it back to back first time in NYC on draft and it is absolutely stellar. All of my fellow american stout lovers, please go into this beer realizing that it is, in fact, not an imperial, viscous, mess but a surprisingly light, refreshing, roasty stout with a nice coffee note and an ABV that sets one up to knock them down.
I would buy this again and again. sloshgator (741) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 13, 2013
Belhaven Black is high-quality and unusual stout. Pour is dark with tan creamy head. Aroma is earthy and moderate. Taste is a wonderful combination of malt and smoke like you might get in a Rauchbier that lingers on the palate. Belhaven Black is a great stout coming from the country of origin. freekyp (2335) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - JAN 26, 2017
Dry Stouts are not usually my thing, but Belhaven’s does it right. Big smoky peaty aroma flavor wrap around earthy baker’s chocolate creating a taste that feels like an old dark Scottish pub. Has a chewy mouthfeel that belies its relatively low 4.2% ABV. Once again the old timers show the new comers how its done! ordybill (1800) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - JAN 30, 2017
Poured from a 14.9 OZ can into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Pooler. The appearance is pitch black with a large thick off-white head. The aroma is malt and black licorice.

REALLY dark! Thick off white head, lasts quite well. Rich roasted malt nose, medium bodied with lovely coffee/malt flavours, finish lasts well and lingers. Was impressed with this one! Tesco Galashiels. ronaldtheriot (1952) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - AUG 3, 2013
Belhaven Black Scottish Stout has a roiling foam at the pour, which sets up as a medium, creamy, cream-colored head, and it has a very dark and black appearance, but this is actually a brilliant ruby red, under direct sunlight. There is quite a bit of thick, whipped cream-like lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, deep-roasted barley and a touch of coffee. Taste is of sweet, astringent, coffee-like barley, background charcoal, chocolate powder, and just the slightest hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and velvety, and Belhaven Black Scottish Stout finishes mostly dry, sweet, and rich. Overall, this is really enjoyable, and I score it most excellent. 440ml can from deli in New York. Everything about this beer is good from the thick black tar colour to the full rich flavour and mouthfeel. AtronSeige (1595) - Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA - MAR 15, 2015
Aroma: Medium roasty, dark chocolate, cherries. Light licorice.
Appearance: Dark body with red highlights. Very thin, off-white head.
Flavour: Medium-high roasty, dark chocolate. Medium-light coffee, light creaminess. Dry finish with lingering roasty, coffee.
Mouthfeel: Medium body. Medium-high carbonation.
Overall: Good beer. Should not be consumed too cold! Can do with a head.
500 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre!

Piwo nieco płaskie, wodniste i wytrawne, ale brak w nim szczególnych wad. Wyraźne nuty kawowe i nieco mniej czekoladowych.
