Opaque black color with a faint copper hue. Magnificent slow construction, wave effect at the bottom, sexy degrading robe from black to white, with super fine head definition. Very thick and creamy beige 2 finger head, lasting around 20 minutes, with basic legs. Flavors of leather and smoked salmon, faint dark fruits and cherries, coffee, chocolate, molassy, with faint spices ans roasted malts. Good balance, but bland. Slick oily medium body with moderate carbonation. Light finish, lingers with sugary molasses, not very tasty. Feels more like a thin porter. The flavors are too faint, feels overly accessible, and lacks freshness. A Guinness beats the crap out of it. Overall below average stuff.

Was disappointed by this stout. Maybe i had too big of expectations, but it didnt seem that great to me. Pours very dark, almost opaque red/brown. Very thin head and lacing, head quickly dissipates leaving a thin, even lacing. Carbonation is almost flat and palate is watery. Similar to Guinness with less complexity and mouth feel.

Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into tulip/snifter glass. Appearance: Black colour; Short-lived brownish head. Aroma: Coffee, chocolate. Palate: Light body, watery, gentle carbonation. Taste: Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, light bitterness, coffee aftertaste. Overall impression: Very tasty and enjoyable. Maybe too much watery.

Aroma has raisin, chocolate and coffee and is slightly alcoholic. Appearance is nice, almost black, but the foam is less interesting than in, say, Guinness. Theres a decent amount of foam and carbonation though. Suitable for this style of beer. The palate is oily, but pleasant. The taste has again "dark things" such as raisin, coffee and burnt taste. The taste is very delicious. This is comparable to Guinness in many aspects, but Id say its a less rich and lighter presentation of Guinness, because it has less richness and less sweetness making it lighter.

Poured from a 14.9 OZ can into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Pooler. The appearance is pitch black with a large thick off-white head. The aroma is malt and black licorice.

Dry Stouts are not usually my thing, but Belhavens does it right. Big smoky peaty aroma flavor wrap around earthy bakers chocolate creating a taste that feels like an old dark Scottish pub. Has a chewy mouthfeel that belies its relatively low 4.2% ABV. Once again the old timers show the new comers how its done!

Deep brown. Creamy, smooth, medium bodied. Lightly toasted malt, chocolate, light fruit notes. Finish is lightly roasted malts with some chocolate. Not so bad.
