Stunned by how much this smells like GK really; almond, dough, straw, Battenberg, hint of dog. There’s some hop there like pencil shavings. Jelly red with a diminishing, lacing cream head. Slips by pretty much unnoticed- caramel and watery almond; unobtrusive oak, egg custard aftertaste. Oat creaminess, diluted, trickling off slate. Quite tasty once it hits room temp, but ultimately a beer that’s brewed to be pleasant, unexceptional and easy to drink, and it is. Sigmund (8103) - Tau, NORWAY - APR 27, 2010
500 ml bottle, as Belhaven Robert Burns Scottish Ale, bought in Denmark. ABV is 4.2%. Copper coloured beer, big and lasting off-white head. Predominantly malty aroma, but also some fruity hops and vinous notes, hints of berries, oak and honey. The flavour has notes of the same elements, but the hops are very moderate, and do not leave much bitterness for the aftertaste. Still a decent and very drinkable beer. Bottle, CM-Vantaa. Pours mahogany color with a small white head. Aroma is sweetish malt and candy. Flavor is malt and sweet fruity. Finish is bitter, bit harsh. Very easy to drink, I so like Belhaven ales, and this one is no disappointment. TBone (18666) - Pori, FINLAND - MAR 19, 2010

Clear mahogany color, good creamy beige head. Toffeish nutty weak aroma. Crisp carbonation. Quite unbalanced flavor of toffee, harsh maltyness and nutty hops. Plasticky aftertaste with light hops and sugar. Pretty average anniversary beer.
Bottle 500ml (K-Market Kamppi). Light brown-reddish (mahogany) color with thin white head. Medium carbonation. Aroma of toffee, dark hops and sweetish malt. Taste is malty, fruity, lightly metallic and sweet. Somewhat bitter-sweet dry aftertaste, but still easily drinkable. Another Belhaven I like, but not my favorite of their beers.
Blom (848) - Sorø, DENMARK - FEB 27, 2010
Beautiful mahogany with a low creamy head. Aroma of wood, roasted malts and smoke. The flavour is bitter-sweet with a long smoky finish. rosenbergh (12021) - Tampere, FINLAND - FEB 20, 2010
500 ml bottle. Finland.TaxiDriver (1847) - Stadland, GERMANY - JAN 18, 2010
Clear dark mahogany colour with small creamy off-white head.
Mild bitter hops, chocolate, malt and wood in aroma.
Mild dark bitter hops, sweet sugary malt and chocolate in flavour.
Bottle. A smell of grain, very light sour, some bitter chocolate. The head is large, creamy and light beige with a normal carbonation. The body is red. A light bitter taste, also light metallic but in a nice way. The beer is dry, light to medium strong with a normal carbonation. Nisse666 (8210) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 4, 2009

UPDATED: OCT 6, 2009 50cl dark amber bottle, as shown. Color, likewise, is dark amber. Creamy, sticky medium head. Aroma of toffee and stewed fruit. Soft malty, caramel flavor, again with stewed fruit for balance. Rather sweetish. Medium-bodied at first, but with its oily texture it’ll grow on you. Soft bitter finish. As stated before, this really is a dark ale to relax comfortably in your chair on a quiet evening. You won’t drink many of these in one evening. Good ale.
