This beer poured a dark amber color and left a off white bubbly head that left some nice lace. It had an aroma of hops, malt and a little smokiness. The flavor was of malt with some smokiness. The finish was smokey with a dry, slightly bitter aspect to it. A good beer

UPDATED: MAY 12, 2003 Draught can. Head is initially small, creamy, white, fully lasting. Body is medium amber, light density of tiny particles. Aroma is lightly malty (molasses, dark bread). Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Light body, creamy texture, soft carbonation.

Smoky roasted coffee aroma. Malty beginning, some hops towards the end. Caramel, coffee in flavor, very smooth and pleasant mouthfeel. Sweetness abounds. Not bad!

Smokey caremel aroma, light roasted flavor, sweet finish....................

MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - JUL 13, 2002
Pretty auburn color. Less head than expected. Nose is average, some definite smoky peatiness, but not as rich as I'd like. Flavor is again very smoky with healthy scotch tastes. Finishes piney and a bit sweet. It's not horrid, but when I can get McEwan's or Kilt Lifter, there's no reason to try this again.

Volgon (2763) - Manchester, New Hampshire, USA - JUL 10, 2002
Smokey initial taste, good malt feel. Seemed a bit past its prime...........

loweredsixth (946) - Clovis, California, USA - JUL 8, 2002
Nice head, very malty taste. It tastes just like roasted peanuts to me. Nice amber color with streams of carbonation. Not much of an aroma. Good beer for us non-hop-heads!

Tiny lemon acidity and candy sugar…Caramel malt of course…Not that fond of it…

A rather crisp ale, and it is worthy of drinking after a good meal. For the price, you can find better domestics.

Mimics fairly realistically the draught beer with a nice creamy head and a quite pleasant mouth feel and mellow taste.
