Malty and hoppy, we at Belhaven love the classic Scottish Ale and weve been brewing it longer than any of the other beers we produce. Delivering a sweet, smooth and creamy finish, Scottish Ale has a stunning ruby colour in the glass. Magic.

Bought a 500 ml bottle on a recommendation from a beer friend. The color is an attractive golden red and the head is eggshell white that slowly dissolves. I smell malt and corn. I find the taste to be friendly, again a light maltiness, toffee-sweetness and biscuit, but not challenging. The wrap up is a smooth bitterness. Decent but I prefer more character to want to buy again.

Part of their Merry Craftmas 6-pack. 5.2% ABV version. Pours a clear deep amber colour with a light-mocha head that dissipates quickly leaving some decent lace. Rich caramel nose with some dark fruit notes and a nutty side. The taste has caramel malts, maybe light molasses in the finish. Not much more. If this was the 3.9% version being like this, might be not bad. This one is not winner. Very bland Scottish ale.

Pours an average size frothy beige head but doesnt stay very long. Has an amber coppery appearance. Weak lacing. Aromas of barley malts, hints of caramel and bready malts. Flavours are mostly toasty malts, nutty, biscuit notes and hints of caramel. Kind of like a buttery finish. Good retention. Oily and slick mouthfeel.

330ml bottle bought in UK, pours almost flat, aroma of cashew nuts, mahogany colour, tastes sweetish, full bodied for its strength with a surprising hop back-taste. Best from my beer advent box so far.
