Malty and hoppy, we at Belhaven love the classic Scottish Ale and we’ve been brewing it longer than any of the other beers we produce. Delivering a sweet, smooth and creamy finish, Scottish Ale has a stunning ruby colour in the glass. Magic.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2013 Smell is remotely skunky with notes of sweet caramel. Flavor is almost similar to a porter or sweet stput. Pretty good.

Hardly any foam, clear light brown color. Sweet, slightly roasted body. A bit too much co2 for my taste.

Pours a reddish brown with a small offwhite head. Aroma is nutty malt. Taste is sweet with a crisp finish. There are notes of nutty malt, brown sugar, and herbal hops. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Despite being a Scottish ale it seems more like a lager, very clean malt, crisp hop finish. Not big on the finish.

Bodney Towers Bottleshare. Thanks to Dan. Clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent carbonation. Super sweet malts, sweet caramel. Sweet fruits. Sweet marmalade. Light finish leaves a sweet fruity linger. Bloody sweet!

Droga ciekawostka.

Clear amber coloured, the foam very quickly disappears, malty, nutty aroma with roasted notes; flavor reminiscent of caramel. Tastes sweet with light bitter notes. Decent ale.

Grumpelmies (398) - GERMANY - NOV 12, 2017
UPDATED: NOV 12, 2017 Bottle. Copper/mahagony with a small head. Aroma of malts, caramel, a tiny hint of citrus fruits and metal. Taste is malts, caramel, nuts, biscuit and bread. Fruity hops in the aftertaste which almost feels boozy. Medium carbonation. Nice.

kryspin3 (165) - Sosnowiec, POLAND - NOV 4, 2017
Bursztynowe, klarowne, piana średnio obfita, drobne i średnie pęcherzyki, dość szybko się redukuje.
W aromacie trochę skunks, karmel, toffi, słód, cukier, niezbyt mocny, ale wyraźnie ziołowy aromat, takie oregano. Trochę skórki od chleba.
W smaku słodowe - nieco ciasteczkowe, nieco chlebowe, nieco przypieczonej skórki od chleba, nieco nawet orzechowe, nieco coli. Poza tym trochę karmelu, odrobina owocowych estrów. Słodkawe. Na finiszu lekki posmak chmielowy, bardziej ziemisty no i skunksowy. Goryczka bardzo niska. Raczej pełne. Wysycenie średnie do wysokiego.

Recommended to me by a friend living in Scotland. This probably doesn’t taste like the ale served in Scotland, but what we get is still great. A real workhorse of an ale that I could drink often and not tire of. No gimmicks, just a great tasting ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500 ml bottle. Amber-brown, clear, leaves a thick, creamy head. The aroma has grass, nuts, bit caramel. The taste is light bitter, light sweet, has nutty and caramel malts, light toasted and there is grass.

330ml bottle. Copper colour with a white foam head leaving lacing. Dried fruits and caramel aroma. Taste is malty, bready, toffee, sweetish, with a blackcurrant hop note and some bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi-dry tangy bitter finish. Quite OK.
