RedSox2004 (1928) - Pacific Palisades, California, USA - FEB 3, 2011
On tap at The Daily Pint. Poured deep black with a bright white, thick and heavy three finger head. A perfect pour by the keep. Dissipated to a solid, long lasting film and left nice lacework.. Slight roasted malt and chocolate aromas with a touch of dark fruit. Chocolate flavor comes on much stronger, accompanied by coffee, licorice, and a sweet but somewhat smoky maltiness. Full bodied, minimal carbonation, and a balancing hops bitterness in the end. Somewhat crisper and cleaner than the bottle. This is terrific.

Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm. Near black, creamy head. Rich chocolate aroma. Sweet and malty, medium bodied with creamy mouthfeel. Toffee and milk chocolate, mild coffeeish finish. A gentle stout.

This start with typical irish dry stout. it is very dark in color but very light in body. It is black in color, but is very light in taste and creamy with mouth feel. it has many notes of chocolate and roasted barley. to me this is about 100 times better than Guinness, and would recommend this to anyone that likes stouts

starts like a typical chocolate stout, delivers reasonable body and full mouthtaste; moves toward bitter finish, but bails instead to a sweet chocolate finish. Not satisfying; could work with slightly sweet desserts, but otherwise, I’ll pass.

Draught, in NZ of all places. Quite enjoyed a couple of these, better than the usual Lion fare on the other taps at my mate’s local. A touch on the sweet side, the roasted malt isn’t strong, but it’s there.
