Belhaven Brewerys flagship American-style IPA. A bold but refreshing ale using pale malt to provide sweetness and a little Crystal malt for extra toffee and a touch of astringency. Challenger provides clean bitterness and an underlying herbal hoppyness. Hersbrucker adds a little fruit, spiciness and floral character and Cascade as the late hop adds masses of grapefruit citrus aroma and taste and floral fragrance. All three hops contribute to the bold bitterness and satisfying finish as well as the huge hop store aroma.
Ingredients: Pale malt, Cascade, Hersbrucker and Challenger hops.

33cl bottle at home. Pale dark amber with a medium slightly off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Subtle bitter and sweet tones. Caramel, malts, citrus, pine and herbs. Quite OK.

Bottle. Golden Amber in colour. Hoppy; piney resinous hops. Very Fruity; citrus - orange and grapefruit. Malty base; toasty malts, caramel and toffee. Quite bitter hoppy fruity throughout. Bitter dry finish. Tasty. Refreshing. Drinkable. (2009-01)

Mooi helder gefilterd gouden met witte kraag. Aroma van mout vooral, hop, gras, stro, hooi. Smaken redelijk zoet, weeig mout, gras, stro, lichte citrus, zwak bitter, eigenlijk totaal geen ipa, matige body, lage co2, niet zo bijzonder

Bottle. Clear dark orange body, big snow white, fluffy head with good retention but poor lacing. Aroma is on the sweet side: caramel malt, light floral tones, orange candies, peach jam. Taste is on the sweet side too: orange caramel, bitter herbs, dried apricots and peach jam. Uninspiring.

Amber with small fast fading head that smells fruity and sweet. Taste is a bit fruitish with some herbal qualities happening and an acidic feel. Not as bitter as most IPAs but still a very interesting and flavorful brew. Got a sampler bottle but now hope to find this in six packs on next visit to store. My bottle shows 5.6% ABV so I am going to assume this is the same recipe as the Europe brew rather than the American one.

Aroma: light malt Appearance: bright clear amber, slight head Mouthfeel: medium, smooth, medium carbonation Taste: bitterness from start and constant throughout though not overpoweringly so. Overall: probably not bitter enough for a typical IPA but I enjoyed this.

Frothmeister (758) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 29, 2016
330ml bottle. Pours a clear pale golden hue with an off-white head. Super faint nose, but caramel is up front with some light resinous hop notes. Taste-wise, medium sweet with caramel, sultana raisin, faint resinous hops, a very light lime note, and just a bit of minerality that leads into more sweetness, light resinous hops, fruity notes, and faint bitterness that peeks through a very cloying finish. The hops dont counter the sweetness, and it ends up coming across pretty darn lopsided.

Bottle from Dikkers Slijterij, Hoogeveen. Malty and sweetish aroma with biscuit malt, caramel, mild fruity notes and hops. Flavour is above moderate sweet and almost medium bitter. Body is medium. Okay English-style IPA.
