Bottled. Poured out deep amber with an off white head. Going down it was like chocolate with caramel kinda....but not overpowering like Turbodog. It was ever so slightly carbonated, so much that I had to hold it up to the light to even tell, and it finished off so smoothly that Im thinking of going into the business...hell Im scottish and this is scotch ale...I cant lose...sike. Anyway, back to reality, this beer is awesome as well as Busters in Memphis where I get all my big beers. Without them, none of this could have happened...<blows kisses and such> But I digress, I would definitely purchase and or drink this Scotch ale again. Later

Dark ruby/brown. Nice, thick, off-white head. Malt and smoky scotch aroma. I love scotch, havent had too many scotch ales, this will be the first Ive drank with the intention of rating. Sweet malt and smoky scotch all the way. Full, smooth body with a nice level of carbonation. Very good.

Bottled. Pours a deep garnet red. Thick, rocky biege head that lasts and laces well. Aroma is very estery and malty. Toffee, caramel, and bread malt notes and peachy, apple, winey, oaky ester undertones. No hops or alcohol in the aroma. Flavor is majorly malty. Bread and sweet caramel and slight roasty notes along with a very subtle smokiness. Esters ever so present with apples, citrus and peach with some dark dried fruit notes as well. Slight hop bitterness but very mild earthy hop flavor. Finishes dry and malty. Body is full and super smooth, almost nitro smooth with low carbonation (good). Good scotch ale.

Aroma of port and apricots is great. Looks: dark reddish brown with low and creamy tan head, 2 bubbles. Taste: Strong - too strong for me. Big old prune-wine/roasty leather/old cherries/dark dark chocolate/smokey sourcream Almost enough hops to make me believe its not just runny tarry maltexo... Body: Hearty medium, silky feel with light hops tingle. Aftertaste: Not entirely unpleasant. Just Mostly unpleasant. Bitter old fruit which creeps up nicely, but the rests more sour than 30-day old milk. Food: perhaps for braising, stewing or cooking in. Not a style I like, better with hot hearty food. Looking at the high scores here, its apparent that this beer hasnt travelled well...

Red-brown hue with beige thick head. Fruity aroma, with notes of malt, spices, tutti frutti, dried apples, alcohol and butter. Malty flavor with notes of butter, smoke and wood. Astringent with low bitterness.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2007 (Bottled) Clear, deep, dark ruby red color with a medium, tanned, foamy and lacy head. An aroma of dark toffee, rhum and raisins, plus roasty, sweetish malt. Strongly burned-malty, toffee-sweetish flavor with dried fruit, chalky coal hints and smoky licorice. Medium to full-bodied, carbonated but smooth and rich, warming palate. A very nice combination of burned-malty, smoky stout and toffeeish scotch ale. Enjoy it only slightly cooled for best experience!

See through dark amber body with a beige head. Weird smell for me, kinda like a dark caramel, earthy and woody smell. Nice fruity taste, raisins definitely. Feels very rich in the mouth. Very good stuff.

This was a bit thin for my tastes Some solvent like aftertaste Aroma and color are great! Maybe my sample was old/aged?

Wow! Great! Poured dark chestnut with medium head. Faded to thin foam and lace. Massive aroma, full of dark malt, coffee grounds, toffee, caramel, molasses, fruit, new-mown hay, and flowers. As expected, taste was a "Wee Heavy" but a magnificent blend of toasty malts, light yeast and a wallop of hops. It starts with a slighty fruity sweetness and very dark malt, and finishes spectacularly bitter. Very full-bodied but full of complex nuances in both taste and aroma. High ABV means no sessions but no sacrifice for the great drinking experience. A keeper.
