Dacrza (916) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - MAR 1, 2014
DATE TASTED: February 20, 2014... GLASSWARE: Victory Nonick... OCCASION: a beer much sought after... APPEARANCE: dark brown body that displays HUGE chunks of sediment--been sitting too long? thick, chunky off-white head offers formidable lacing... AROMA: brilliant buttery, big malt aroma with dampened caramel and candy sugars; somewhat earthy, grainy but difficult to lay a nostril to...PALATE: smooth, thin and mellow--the mouth is refreshed as much as its engaged; slightly warming as the glass drains...TASTE: sweet and malty; a brown ales subtlety with fleeting fervor--a bit of barleywine funk at the end; low to no hop impression... OVERALL: the initial shock of floating substance (something I had not dealt with since the "claw" incident in Heavy Seas Saison art the shore a decade ago) still makes this review tainted; I have little doubt this rates better than I afforded it, but to rate authentically, I cannot be betray the experience itself...I may have to find another distributor to ascertain the true quality of this beer...

sudomorph (1119) - Barrie, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 25, 2017
330ml bottle. Pours a clear ruby mahogany with a thin head than fades to a ring. Aroma has notes of caramel, toffee, dark fruits, slight alcohol, and is mildly woody. Taste is balanced well with notes of non-sweet caramel, toffee, dark fruits, and a bit more of that woodiness. Medium-full body with a low-medium carbonation. Fairly clean in the mouth with a fuller, more robust mouth feel and a mildly dry finish. Overall pretty tasty with a solid malt forward flavour.

rauchbier (3847) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - FEB 22, 2017
Bottle, from Bargain Booze. Deep red brown, thin short lived off white head and good condition. Big fruity nose with hints of figs, strawberry, burnt toffee and a faint tang of citrusy orange. Soft and sweet in the mouth with figs and toffee, some earthy background bitterness and a muted mulled wine spiciness mingled with hints of orange peel. Warming finish with some berry skin bitterness and a sticky sweet toffee note lingering, some retronasal alcohol reminding you it needs sipping rather than swigging.

Bottle, 0.33l. Pours clear deep ruby body with one finger creamy white head. Very good head retention. Smell is malty and grainy, a bit on the sweet side. Some corn coming through. Medium body with prickly carbonation. Texture is average, somewhat creamy. Intensely sweet, a bit too much for my liking. Aroma is heavy malt, brown sugar, very sweet. Sticky. Caramel and toffee. Herbal. A bit grainy. Slight metallic acidity in the finish. Excessive sugar is hiding the ABV. Overall, not bad. A bit too sweet.

Bottle. Clear amber body, small mocha head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee, rose hip jam, spices. Taste of caramel, barley, raspberry jam, a touch of herbs and some booze harshness. Good.
