(Bottle 75 cl) Vintage 1993. Golden and very unclear - almost impure. Extreme sediment inside. Very vinegary but without the subtle and sophisticated flavours found in the best, traditional gueuzes. 150602

Koelschtrinker (21318) - K?ln (Cologne), GERMANY - JUN 2, 2011
Dennoch schon etwas heftig. Super erhaltenes und schmeckhaftes Bier /13/12/11/9/13

Muddy blond color, poor head. Excellent Lambic. Should I say more? There is some apple fruitness in the taste; astringent. One straight, pure, lovely Lambic.

UPDATED: JAN 28, 2016 Bottle vintage 1999 @ Mikkeller, Aarhus. No head. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are rich lactose acid, sour vinegar, malt and fruits. Nice sour finish. Semi plaque remover. Original rating 9/29/2007 before I learned to appreciate lambics. Bottle. No head. Color is amber. Aroma is lots of lactose acid. Taste is sour with lots of lactose acid. Sour finish. Virtually no carbonation.

75cl bottle at Heeren van Liederkerke. 1999 bottle no. 05164. Orange/gold with lasting beige head. Bit of musty age on aroma. That is quite sour. The age has taken a certain edge off it, but it does have malt vinegar notes on the end. Too sour on end. Nice up front farmyard, but way too much vinegar.

Vintage 1999. Haxy orange, white head. Very sourish, sour, woddy and with fruits. Sour flavor, sour but also a bit fruity. Dryish, vinegar notes.

1999 Vintage. 750mL bottle at DHVL, pours a cloudy night orange with a small off-white head. Aroma of tart dry apricot skins, and classic barnyard funk -- wonderful aromatics. Flavour brings out tart apricots, some grape skins, and medium funk. Moderate funky quality for a gueuze with a very higher than average acidity. Finishes fairly tart, with the funky quality no less pronounced and huge acidity. No sign of the age at 14 years old. Wonderful stuff, though not my favourite style of gueuze with all the sourness and intense acidity. Actually becomes overburdeningly acidic the more you drink, forcing me to lower the rating a bit. Still, quality stuff.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2009 1999 bottling. Cloudy orange-amber. Cheesy, tangy gueuze aroma...yeah, this is going to be good. Rich, earthy, tart depths of passion fruit, lemon, hay and leather. Huge complexity - a gueuze that shows me new things. At this stage of aging, a classic.

Belle Vue Fond Gueuze 1988. Muddy tan/light brown colour. Light funk, cheese and phenols on the nose. Very earthy palate. Flat. Complex and tart with a long finish. This is extra dry and deliciously dusty. 2-7-8-5-18 = 4.0
