Gangstergafje (1102) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - MAY 23, 2017
23-05-2017; fles; home (bought somewhere in Malmedy, Belgium). The looks of the beer aren’t bad. The color of the beer is a nice dark golden yellow, nearing orange-brown. It is nice. The beer is quite cloudy. Some particles can be seen floating around. It looks like it is bottle fermented and unfiltered. On top of the beer a little layer of rough white foam is formed. The majority of the foam collapses, leaving only a thin white drape. The smell of the beer is nice. It is not very strong though. It is a bit on the mild side. I smell some clear sweet malts, a touch of sweet honey, some bitter touches of hops and some nice full yeast aroma’s. Not bad, but not extremely special. Just that typical Belgian ale smell. The same for the taste. Typical Belgian ale. The beer has nice malty sweetness, together with some touches of liquorice and an almondy alcohol flavour. I also taste a herbal and bitter taste of hops and some sweet and full yeast flavours. Not bad. The taste is in quite good balance. I like it. The palate of the beer is fine. Medium body, smooth and medium-low carbonation. The finish is nice and contains some warming alcohol, together with sweet malts, a touch of honey and some yeast. All in all, an easy drinkable Belgian Ale. Not bad.

330ml Bottle - Golden with a white head. Grass, hay and citrus in the aroma. Bready taste with lemon, yeast, hay and grass. Drinkable but punches under its weight for a beer of this type and strength.

3ème idem. Longueur où on croit rêver devant cet entêtement. Jambes fines, fortement marquées. Levure très légère. Alcool sans intérêt pour cette bière ... Finale quelconque. CONCLUSION : une banalité déconcertante... Je ne ferais pas 3 mètres pour cette bière !!! Moralité de cette brasserie : 3 blondes complètement ratées, et 2 brunes tout à fait intéressantes .. Cherchez l’erreur !!!

Roughly frothy blond beer with lovely aroma of almond. It surprises me actually part to its aroma similar to almond liqueur, just in less extreme than Amaretto. Apart from this it also has a little nondescript fruit aroma. The flavor is very sweet and reveals coriander, citrus and white bread. Gentle hop bitterness that allows good deep aftertaste of fruit. A very delicate and sweet beer that will do well as aperitif.
