Bottled, thanks to the oLd bird for this one. Amber with a splotchy beige head; aroma and flavour both show butterscotch, cinnamon and coriander, hints of menthol toothpaste. Simple and steady

Bought during our vacation at a local grocery store in Belgium. Dark brown beer with almost no white head, high carbonation. Tastes to caramel, smoke mites, quite spicey, dark fruit, bit watery.

Gangstergafje (1142) - Capelle aan den IJssel, NETHERLANDS - MAY 22, 2017
UPDATED: MAY 23, 2017 22-05-2017; fles; home (bought somewhere in Malmedy, Belgium). The looks of the beer are nice. It looks like a proper Belgian brown beer. The color of the beer is a nice ruby red brown. The beer is quite cloudy. On top some rough slightly off-white foam is formed. The majority of the foam collapses quickly, leaving a thing greyish drape. Not bad. The smell of the beer is a bit mild. It isn’t bad, but it is just a little bit to weak. There is a sweet malty touch and a hint of candy sugar and caramel. I smell alcohol, a very mild touch of liquorice and a spicy meat aroma. There are touches of bitter hops. All quite nice, but just a tiny bit to mild. The taste is better. It is a bit stronger. It contains some nice full sweet aromas. There is a nice maltiness, together with some many sugar, caramel and some sweeter and warming alcohol. I also taste some spicy yeast, touch of liquorice and a minimal hoppy bitterness. All is in good balance. It is nice, but not very special. The palate of the beer is fine. The body of the beer is medium, it’s a bit smooth and carbonation is low average. The finish isn’t bad. It is of average length and contains some sweeter malts and some alcohol. All in all, not a bad beer, but not very special. Just another Belgian brown one. Nice though.

Robe brune cuivrée, trouble. Mousse blanc cassé, liquide, aérée, texture écumeuse. Col court, tenue faible.

A small taste from a friend (bottle) @ Tuulensuu during the OKS Oktoberfest. Pours cloudy brown with a low head. Aroma is slightly tarty malts with some fruits. Flavor is slightly tarty malts with some nuts and fruits. A bit too thin for its own good, but good.
