Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with bitter black chocolate notes is quite nice. Taste is a robust mix of roasted malt with some string black chocolate notes with some bitterness and light residual sugar notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Quite the robust imperial stout with not as much residual sugar as I was expecting which might be a good thing as it increase the overall drinkability. Draft at The Beer Grotto in Ann Arbor, I think. Deep black body, thick tight light brown head. Dense, syrupy body, lots of marshmallowy burnt sugars and bitter/acrid roast. Inky, sweet, bitter. I thought at the time this beer might be better with a little age. Theydon_Bois (22069) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - JAN 6, 2018
Bottle split at Leighton's 20K, big thanks to the man of the moment, 01/03/17.
Black with a well appointed tan cap.
Nose is chocolate milkshake, light spice, umami, charr, mellow roast.
Taste comprises chocoalte, earthy tones, spice, black pepper, dark fruit rinds, chewy toffee.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a mellow boost.
Decent well rounded impy stout. Aurelius (5718) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - SEP 23, 2017
Oily pour, darkest tan head that I think I've ever seen. Standard longneck, bad label. Aroma is chocolate cake batter, figs, espresso and alcohol. Some tannic tones. Rich, stiffly bitter dark cocoa, figs/dates, some leather, tannic acidity. Day old coffee finish with lots of roast. Sweet, but not overly so. Latent warming, ABV is pretty well masked. Big league. 12floz bottle, BOD: 08.29.2015, bought as a single about two years ago, poured into a large snifter glass. Appears an opaque black-brown with a thin glistening brown head. Notes of molasses, oak, and cocoa roundly fill the nose. Palate is sublime. There is no harshness, just silky smooth flavors of dark chocolate, toffee, wood, and a faint touch of plum. A superb ale that appropriately ranks in my top 1%.

12oz bottle shared. Dark oily pour. Aroma is smokey meat, chocolate. Taste is smokey, kind of dry and roastsy. Pretty good, interesting. BVery (11541) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - AUG 26, 2017
Bottle shared by Tom - thanks! Dark oily brown pour. Smaller wispy brown head. Dark roast, semi-sweet malt, English toffee. Slick palate. Very good. Thisis12ptfont (1244) - Los Angeles, CA, California, USA - JUL 27, 2017
Aromas of beef jerky, smoked malt, bacon, dark malt, chocolate, oak, toffee, dark roasted malt and fresh meatloaf. Pours dark with almost no foam or lacing. Taste brings chocolate, beef jerky, roasted beef, smoked malts, burnt ashes, charcoal malts and campfire ash upfront. Mid palate notes of smoked ham, dark chocolate, burnt malt syrup and maple. Finishes ridiculously smooth with residual chocolate. Overall, a very excellent take on the style with plenty of aged notes. B rating, chinchill (5466) - South Carolina, USA - JUL 18, 2017
Bottled on 8/29/15 and poured from the 12 oz bottle into a snifter.
Opaque black-brown body with a thin size, semi-durable tan head. Low carbonation. On oily brown coating can be seen on the glass upon tipping it, along with a modicum of lacing.
Aroma - an inviting mix of alcohol, dark dried fruits, ripe pitted fruits, chocolate, roasted malts and toffee.
Bitter-sweet rich flavor. Partially hidden 11% ABV; drinks like ~9%. Hints of dark chocolate, raisins, coffee, toffee and dark toast.
Full, thick, smooth body. Low but adequate carbonation. Warming but not hot.
Overall: a superb, rich, well balanced RIS. I’d like to try this at the same time as Black Note -- maybe next time.

Bottle. Black with a nice foamy brown head. Huge roasted semi-burnt malt, bakers chocolate, molasses, coconut husk, coffee grinds, mild+ carbonation and full body, slick and oily, leather, somewhat bittersweet, bit of lactose on the finish but then booze and burnt malts overwhelm.
