Made from mostly pale malt and some Munich and caramel malts. These add a little sweetness, which is balanced by more hops. The result is a rich color and fruity flavor.

(Bottle) Pours a clear copper body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, grass, and light citrus. Flavor of caramel and mild hops.

Beautiful amber color with lots of bubbles and a nice long lasting white head with good lacing. Aroma was moderately hoppy while flavor was lightly bitter. This ale was very creamy on the palate with lively carbonation and a nice clean crisp finish. an execllent choice for an amber ale.

Pours copper color with off-white head that fades quickly. Strong aroma of roasted caramel malt and hoppiness. Slightly fruity-sweet flavor with a strong malt and hop presence.

Bottle. Pours a nice clear orange body with a medium-sized frothy white head. The aroma is fairly subtle mainly holding notes of caramel and cookies as well as some fruity hops. soft chewy body. The flavour profile is somewhat straightforward but I like it. Itís mostly caramel and toast malt flavour here but there is a good amount of fruity twang towards the sweetish finish. Bought at Merchantís Fine Wines in Dearborn, MI in April 2006 (Batch 7240).

One of my favorite amber ales. Very smooth, easy to drink, and tastes great.

pnista (1007) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAR 26, 2006
On tap. Red brown with not too much head. The aroma is mostly floral hops with some subtle (and particularly not too sweet) malt. The mouthfeel is the strong point of this beer, with surprising creaminess for an amber. This is rather hoppy as far as most ambers go (bordering on a malt lacking IPA). Thereís some sweetness, but mostly one dimensional, not really having the richness to completely balance the floral hops, but still not bad. Thereís a lingering almost malty bitterness in the aftertaste, but even by the time I got home, I could still taste the hops.

tcruicks (282) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - MAR 26, 2006
Red in color. The palate is great- creamy, smooth, just the right amount of carbonation. Smells hoppy, spicy, floral. Tastes hoppy, a bit fruity and fairly sweet.

UPDATED: MAY 22, 2007 rerate, May 22, 2007: Right there with Ipswich as the most perfectly balanced beer. Perfect amount of sweet caramel malt, crisp and delicious. Original rating, Mar 24, 2006 (3.9):rich copper color with a small head and nice lacing. very nice, if slightly subdued aroma of sweet malt with a hoppy presence. Flavor is very lightly sweet and carmely with a fair amount of hoppieness. Rich fruity tones. Very nicely balanced, finishes moderatly hopped and lightly dry.

poured a nice copper color with a sweet aroma. Was pretty cloudy with sediment. Flavor is sweet with a hops bite. Palate was fair, nothing special. Good but not the best amber ale
