COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made from mostly pale malt and some Munich and caramel malts. These add a little sweetness, which is balanced by more hops. The result is a rich color and fruity flavor.

Having just had two draft pints of this with my dinner at Chicago’s excellent Wishbone Restaurant, I can report that it is a solid, satisfying brew, although not the equal of the other Bells I’ve tried (the Oberon, the Porter, and the Special Cream Stout). Among ambers, I rate Fischer higher.

I’ve never been as big a fan of this as other people. Seems out of kilter.

Slightly cloudy, dark orange color. Slight hoppy, fruit aroma. Very bitter finish with a touch of fruit. This is a great brewery by the way, gotta love the stout selection - amazing. Go there in November, when the stouts are brewed.

Darker golden color, slightly sweet nose, touch of hops at the finish. Has somewhat of a caramel sweetness to it.

(On tap at Bell's) With an unexpectedly light color for an "amber" ale, this brew has a sweet aroma. Hoppy, tangy flavor, but falls flat. In sum: OK, but rather disappointing.

Very cloudy for an Amber Ale. Hoppy too. The finish is perhaps more bitter than I am used to for this style, hence the deduction for palate and overall. Thanks Psychprof for this one!

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2007 On tap. This had a small, white head that went away quickly. Slight hops aroma and a little sweet honey wth some bubble gum. The flavor has a little bitterness and some nutty wheat bite. The after taste was relatively bitter.

Amber color with a dark beige smaller head. Citrus and caramel seem to highlight the aromas. Crisp and sharp feel. Not smooth like I would prefer this style. Light milk caramel with an acidic hops backdrop. Seems to have a light sour fruit contingency as well. Different from your average amber, unfortunately different does not always mean better.

A good transition beer. Not a bold strong Bell’s but a very decent brew, better than a national brand anything. Nice hops like a pale ale. Well malted. Very good after fish.

Good balance of malt and hops but flavor isn’t quite where I’d like it to be. Cloudy amber in color with a bunch of sediment on the bottom of the glass - unfiltered, I presume. Nice, slightly sweet aroma.
