gross sour malt aroma. the flavour was much better, pretty much what one would expect from the style. light fruity hoppiness to it. good, just not great. BillHick420 (471) - NORWAY - FEB 11, 2012
Pours amber with a white head. Nose of some caramel. Medium bodied, with a refreshing caramel malt and hints of bitterness, though hops isn’t present enough to get a specific aroma. duaneh (100) - - MAR 9, 2012
Hazy amber with a white head. Malts are just light caramel and there’s just a slight spicy hop note in the aftertaste. Yes, it’s very drinkable and not really bland, but it’s kind of boring. gregwilsonstl (2709) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - APR 30, 2012
Dark amber. Thick lacing. Tastes like a hoppy fat tire. Crisp and dry. Caramellized. GhostFace (477) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 12, 2012
12oz bottle. deep amber in color with a thin head. bread and caramel are the dominate aromas. taste follows the aroma, mainly malty with a touch of earthy hops at the finish.

Good. The nose is caramelcand brown sugar with a bit of roast and nuts. The beer is medium brown with a small but developed off white head. The taste is roast, nuts, and caramel sweetness balanced by a floral hop bitterness. Smooth and medium bodied with a finish on the sweet side. haugeberg (72) - - AUG 22, 2012
Poured from bottle into pint glass. Good beer, but this batch seems to have had some filtration issues. All sorts of suspended goodness left over. Not bad, but not a favorite.

My least favorite Bell's offering, but decent none the less................. delacerveza (166) - Florida, USA - OCT 10, 2001
quite tasty. nice hint of hops without that overpowering bitter pucker that some beers boast (and many of y'all love, i'm sure)
great color and good balance of carbonation. it seems to me that many red/amber beers are either too flat or too bubbly for some reason. not this one, though. MOboy (510) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - FEB 4, 2002
A decent amber ale. Still does not compare to their stout or to Capitals amber ale
