Made from mostly pale malt and some Munich and caramel malts. These add a little sweetness, which is balanced by more hops. The result is a rich color and fruity flavor.

Having just had two draft pints of this with my dinner at Chicagoís excellent Wishbone Restaurant, I can report that it is a solid, satisfying brew, although not the equal of the other Bells Iíve tried (the Oberon, the Porter, and the Special Cream Stout). Among ambers, I rate Fischer higher.

Iíve never been as big a fan of this as other people. Seems out of kilter.

Slightly cloudy, dark orange color. Slight hoppy, fruit aroma. Very bitter finish with a touch of fruit. This is a great brewery by the way, gotta love the stout selection - amazing. Go there in November, when the stouts are brewed.

Darker golden color, slightly sweet nose, touch of hops at the finish. Has somewhat of a caramel sweetness to it.

(On tap at Bell's) With an unexpectedly light color for an "amber" ale, this brew has a sweet aroma. Hoppy, tangy flavor, but falls flat. In sum: OK, but rather disappointing.

Very cloudy for an Amber Ale. Hoppy too. The finish is perhaps more bitter than I am used to for this style, hence the deduction for palate and overall. Thanks Psychprof for this one!

I think I have old bottles. Not spoiled, just slightly tinny and oxidized... but then a couple of them havenít had such a strong presence of that stale taste. Overall this is a light, crisp but sour amber ale, with light flavors of honey, triscut crackers, copper and tin flavors and a smell of raw corn (like a corn field) and other grains.

On tap at Banderaís, Chicago, IL. Cloudy amber ale having small diminishing white head. Sour smelling aroma, like an old bar. No discernable carbonation. Medium-bodied ale that starts and finishes with a sweet malt flavor with moderate hop bitterness. A good drinkable beer that went well with roasted chicken.

Bought from a local party store. A sour yeasty, with slight hint of hops smell. Flavor starts with an initial sour, almost bread like in character, then finishes with a malty, almost marzen flavor. Not a bad beer. Amber in color, not much head. Also, there were yeast particles floating around as well, with a layer of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Iím not much for amber ales, but this one is drinkable.
