COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A commemorative brew celebrating Kalamazoo Brewing Company’s 4000th batch. Considered to be a "double-mild" in style, Batch 4000 uses Sterling hops from a small farm in the Willamette Valley, and debuts an exclusive barley-malt, by Breiss Malting. It shows off some characteristics from the traditional English Mild, while doubling up the flavor profile and alcohol content. Brewed in February of 2000, this is beer is a one-time only brew.

Re-brewed for Bells 30th Anniversary in 2015

Thanx to flemdawg for sharing. This brew reminded me more of a barley wine than an american strong ale.Dark fruits and nuts with a small alcohol tinge, very good.

Cloudy, amber with medium off-white head. Aroma of sweet nuts, earth, wood. Flavor is sweet, orange, and lighter than the aroma. Nice little carbonation to finish.

UPDATED: JUN 10, 2007 Clear light amber, no head. Sweet malty aroma. Taste is the same a strong caramel sweetness, grapefruit hops, and a strong spicy tongue coating sweetness that blast you almost mead like.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with Styles (thanks!). Poured a deeper copper color with a small sized off white head. Some floaters. Aromas of wood, dark cherries, caramel and it has a light earthiness to it. Tastes of wood, oranges, caramel, and lighter cherries. Tastes on the softer side (I attribute this to its age).

Thanks to hopdog. Pours a cloudy brown orange with a very small head. Aroma of dark fruits, cherry, vanilla and caramel malts. Flavor is similar to the aroma but a bit tamed down. This seemed more like a barley wine to me.

Poured a hazy copper color with a thin, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of wood, nuts, caramel malts, and light alcohol. Taste of citrus fruits, tobacco, more toffee and caramel malt... medium bitterness, and carbonation as well. Thanks for sharing hopdog.

heemer77 (5360) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - NOV 28, 2005
Thanks for the sample, Duane. Cloudy dark orange and copper body. The aroma is nicely blended caramel, apples and peanuts. The taste is dark toffee with tea and wood. A nice dry finish also has some light tobacco. A nicely done brew.

12 oz. bottle from Walleye and shared with Eric ( Heemer ). Not really sure just how old this bottle might be, but it has held up quite well. aroma is reminiscent of a barleywine but not as strong. mild well rounded flavors of caramel, malt and some butterscotch. nicely done, Bell’s.

Aroma is a rich malt, and I find there is still some hops here. Muddy brown, with a tiny tan head. Flavour is a full malt, with caramel and butterscotch. Medium bodied, sweet, mellow, lovely mouthfeel. Terrific! Thank You radiomgb.
