COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A commemorative brew celebrating Kalamazoo Brewing Company’s 4000th batch. Considered to be a "double-mild" in style, Batch 4000 uses Sterling hops from a small farm in the Willamette Valley, and debuts an exclusive barley-malt, by Breiss Malting. It shows off some characteristics from the traditional English Mild, while doubling up the flavor profile and alcohol content. Brewed in February of 2000, this is beer is a one-time only brew.

Re-brewed for Bells 30th Anniversary in 2015

12oz bottle from a trade from way too long ago....pours a slightly transparent amber brown with a thin and quickly dissipating white head.... bready caramel malts and dark fruits make up the nose.... flavors of dark fruit and bready malt somewhat tart, and finishes with a slightly boozy bitter finish. carbonation has certainly help up over the years. pretty lively and thin to medium mouthfeel.

Thanks Joel! The beer pours to a glowing dark amber body. Clean on first pour, hazy and murky further through the bottle. The aroma is earthy, twigs, stewed apples, barleywine characteristics. Light mint. The flavor has really held up well. It’s earthy, woodsy, cinnamon, barleywine-ish. Herbs. The palate is rich, not oxidized at all, concentrated feel. Great! Such a delight to try! Bring it back Larry!

Bottle. Musky, old, dusty nothing. If this was something at some point, it’s certainly not anymore. Heavily oxidized, lightly metallic. A touch of caramel, maybe.

Another tasty treat from those wack jobs at Bell’s. This stuff is simply amazing with flavors of caramel, toasted grains and dried fruits. Slightly oxidized but very good.

Courtesy of artusory (from Walleye). Fluffy head, decent retention. Orange appearance with a reddish core; think sunset. Candy sugar, orange peel on the nose. Slightly oxidized, but still magical. Malt and orange in the mouth, viscous, with a completely unexpected finish of chocolate and maple syrup. A surprising, layered strong ale.

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2005 Many thanks to walleye for parting with a bottle of this rarity! Murky orange-brown body with lots of yeast sediment, thin light cream head. Caramely, toasty aroma with subtle remnant hops, a bit oxidized. Mellow, full caramel and toast malty flavor with light buttery notes and hints of earthy hops, but these were mostly faded. Nice, tight carbonation for a five year-old beer. Still solid after all this time.

Bottle from trade with walleye. Thanks Jim. Hazy amber body with a small off-white head. The aroma is a wonderful example of how oxidation can benefit a beer. Lightly oxidatized malts with nuts and caramel. The flavor is toffee, nuts, touch of chocolate and roast at the end. Just a touch of acidity. The mouthfeel is very soft, light and smooth.

Fat på CBC-2016. Smak och doft av choklad, karamell, torkad frukt, brunt socker med toner av marsipan. Lätt kropp, fin strong ale med fin sötma och bra balans. Gott!

Aroma is a rich malt, and I find there is still some hops here. Muddy brown, with a tiny tan head. Flavour is a full malt, with caramel and butterscotch. Medium bodied, sweet, mellow, lovely mouthfeel. Terrific! Thank You radiomgb.
