4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle w/ Simon. Thanks Dave! Been quite awhile since I’ve had a beer that floored me like this. Flavor is simply to die for ... so well blended, mellow and soft while being powerful and long. Unreal...a boom of brown sugar w/ fig that changes into a deep smoke w/ juicy and light bitterness. Can’t believe how well this has held up...wish I had it circa 2006, but I can’t complain. Palate is soft and massaging on the gums. Couldn’t put it down. This is just about perfect for my taste buds. WOW, what a B-wine!
Still hanging on...oxidation actually added complexity. Classic aged barley wine flavor with fading hops and fruity, tangy malt. A touch of toast in the finish. umich03jm (3513) - Flat Rock, Michigan, USA - MAY 23, 2016
Bottle. Nothing like a 13 year old barley wine! Aroma is only slightly oxidized. Huge caramel, brown sugar and dark fruit. Tastes a little more stale and papery. Moderately sweet with loads of dark fruit. I bet I would’ve loved this fresh. Still pretty good considering the age. koleminer20 (3704) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - OCT 30, 2015
12 oz bottle shared with Jason and Brian. The pour is a dark amber brown with a light tan head that falls down quickly with a couple spots of lace. The aroma is surprisingly hoppy. There is a good malt present but the hops are surprisingly strong. Good cherry and fruits. The flavor is excellent. There is a nice hoppiness and a strong fruit character. There is a light booze and and strong malt and caramel. The mouth feel is a little thin but well carbonated. There is a slick finish and it's quick fading. Good barley wine for sure

12 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige / tan head. Nose brings out rich notes of caramel, dark fruits and some light oxidation - which is no surprise given the age of this thing. Flavour is rich and deep, with loads of caramel, dark dried fruits, brown sugar, and alcohol. Extremely well-balanced, without any cloying sweetness. This is very bold and decadent. Not really any oxidation on this at all - very surprising, given this is 10+ years old! This sure has stood the test of time. Wonderful stuff. abemorsten (3618) - Mosterøy, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2013
Bottle kindly shared by gunnar. Hazy deep ruby orange body with a light brown rim. Heavy honey and prune juice reduction on the nose. Smooth, fruity, salty. Thick, full bodied and alco warm. Long roasted raisin finish. K

Dark brown, no head. Strong aroma of alcohol, prunes, dates and toffee. Similar taste. Rather overwhelming. Sigmund (7609) - Tau, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2013
Shared 355 ml bottle at local tasting. Very dark brown colour, low tan head. Intense aroma of molasses and oak. Very sweet flavour, loads of molasses, alcohol and oak, some bitterness. Impressive, but not really my cup of tea. Holmen1 (5974) - Stavanger, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2013
Nest siste flaske på dette RB-treffet, og hvilken lykke! Dette er bare lekkert på alle måter, og med en linedansers eleganse. For mye av det gode kan fort bli guddommelig. Cbuk1013 (247) - Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA - MAY 30, 2013
Why didn’t I save one more for my cellar??????????????????????????? Great barley wine.
