UPDATED: MAR 21, 2008 12oz bottle.#8212. A nutty, fruity mix. Its as toasty as any malts ive ever tasted. Candy sweet to the finish. An amazing brown ale. It beats the hell outta Newcastle. Hollywoodt (240) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - FEB 15, 2006

"Poured a cloudy brown color with a good head. Smelled of hops. Flavor had a good mix of maltsand hops. Carbonated mouthfeel. Very good beer, and Great for a brown ale. " hopnpop (73) - Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 9, 2006
A classic brown ale: Sweet, fruity aroma; good brown color. Initial taste of fruity caramel. Aftertaste of citrusy hops. Mouthfeel is a tad watery, otherwise simply terrific. Zeswaft (1775) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 5, 2006
Not my favorite style. Luckily it’s not very much like any nut brown I know. The aroma is not great. kind of like poop and rotten pears. The flavor is different though. Somewhat nutty, a little chocolate, a little fruit, and a little licorice. I was always curious about this beer but never wanted a six-pack. I’d say my suspicions were justified. Batch 7111. I think I’ve been either completely disappointed or let down with each of the last 10 beers I’ve had.

(Tap) Deep tan/copper color. Good semi-rich flavor with nuts and caramel mixed into candy-like malty sweetness countered by a soft bitter resonance. Finishes well and leaves a desirable linger. Tubbfan (147) - Joliet, Illinois, USA - JAN 25, 2006
The first thing that struck me about this ale was the plethora of particles rising and sinking in my glass. I’ve seen this before, so it wasn’t a shock, but then again, not something you see everyday. The appearance is a clear brown. Hhead dispersed quickly, but the lacing was good. Palate is only medium. I like my browns to be more full. Flavor is only OK, consisting of some malt. Not a lot of aroma. Overall, not terribly impressive. Sammy (12491) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 22, 2006
Chocolate cabinet brown with creamy head, fresh leaving lace in glass. Caramel, a touch of graininess and roasted barley and molasses and licorice in aroma and in taste. Very easy drink, understated hoppiness and maltiness so just some bitterness and sweetness. Some of each in aftertaste, but more sweet.. Creamy mouthfeel. Good example of this style. Poured cloudy brown, with an off-white head, nice lacing on the glass. Aroma malty, and sweet. Flavor of sweet nuttiness, toffee, and hops. Caramel is the aftertaste. Light bodied. Sweet finish.
Good brown ale. only complaint is that the body seemed a bit thin. Good tasty sweet malt flavour.
