COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

(Tap) Deep tan/copper color. Good semi-rich flavor with nuts and caramel mixed into candy-like malty sweetness countered by a soft bitter resonance. Finishes well and leaves a desirable linger.

The first thing that struck me about this ale was the plethora of particles rising and sinking in my glass. Iíve seen this before, so it wasnít a shock, but then again, not something you see everyday. The appearance is a clear brown. Hhead dispersed quickly, but the lacing was good. Palate is only medium. I like my browns to be more full. Flavor is only OK, consisting of some malt. Not a lot of aroma. Overall, not terribly impressive.

Chocolate cabinet brown with creamy head, fresh leaving lace in glass. Caramel, a touch of graininess and roasted barley and molasses and licorice in aroma and in taste. Very easy drink, understated hoppiness and maltiness so just some bitterness and sweetness. Some of each in aftertaste, but more sweet.. Creamy mouthfeel. Good example of this style.

From bottle

Poured cloudy brown, with an off-white head, nice lacing on the glass. Aroma malty, and sweet. Flavor of sweet nuttiness, toffee, and hops. Caramel is the aftertaste. Light bodied. Sweet finish.

Good brown ale. only complaint is that the body seemed a bit thin. Good tasty sweet malt flavour.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2008 March 2008 Re-rate
Chocolate, nutty, toasted malt aroma. The body is a murky brown and holds a thin tan head. Sweet fore, chocolate, nutty, toasty grains and sweet malts. Very low bitterness. Abrupt finish.
Original Rating was a 3.9
Aroma is lightly roasted sweet malts. Beer is cloudy brown with a pinky thin, fast fading tan head. Flavor is strong and full. Good intensity. Some caramel and toffee notes and lots of nuttiness that at times even hints at roasted hazlenut. A very well done brown.

12 ounce bottle. Pours closer to dark read than brown. Creamy stone colored head that stands up a bit. Nice clarity and carbonation. Baked goods, nutty, and maybe some dried fruit in both nice and flavor. Fuller body, and some prickly carbonation. Really just pretty average.

amber/light brown color with an off white/light brown head. aroma is that of baked bread. the good old whole wheat loaf you buy from the store. not a fresh aroma at all. a very nice nutty toasty flavor. the finish is very dry. Im not a huge fan of the brown ales but like the name implies probably one of the best Iíve had.

One of my favorites in this style. Clear Reddish Brown in color. Thin head with good lacing. Caramel aromas. Nutty and bready flavor. Well done again, Bellís.
