COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A smooth, toasty brown ale, Best Brown Ale is a mainstay in our fall & winter lineup. With hints of caramel and cocoa, the malt body has the depth to stand up to cool weather, but does not come across as heavy. This balancing act is aided by the generous use of American hops.

Pours a light brown with a foamy slightly offwhite head. Aroma is sweet and slightly carmaley. Flavor is very sweet, a bit spicy, very yeasty, and a bit nutty. Overall, not a fan.

Pours light copper with a quick to dissipate offwhite head. A good caramel and slightly hazelnut aroma fills the air over this one. The flavor is caramel and nuts with a slight hop finish. It is sweet through and through and has a fair amount of body for a nutbrown. Very easy to drink and a decent nutbrown.

Bottled, rated live. Pours a great deep brown body with a thick head. Good malty beer smell. Beer has the usual suspended particles in Bellís light filtering. A great, sweet malt taste against which any hops donít stand a chance. All they can do is keep the toasty malt from sticking to the mouth. Nice dry finish, as claimed.

MIBRomeo (2570) - Wisconsin, USA - MAY 5, 2005
pours a copperish color w/ a small quickly dissapating off white head. A fair hop aroma w/ a bit of carmel malt and a nice nut/wood scent. Palate is a bit acidic w/ some nice carbonation and a pretty solid coating for a brown ale. Light nut/carmel/hop in the flavor w/ a floral finish fairly light. Overall the beer was a solid brown ale but paled in comparison to the big Imperial stout i had in front of it.

Great dark amber pour. Nice creamy head with some suspended particles. Yeast? Nice malty taste, with some subtle hops. It is very easy drinking with little bitterness and some nice subtle sweetness. Aroma is malty sweet with some citrus and pine. I truly enjoyed this beer!

Bottle courtesy of Styles: Orange/brown that turns to a murky amber/orange when held up to the light. Small light tan head that quickly dies down. Aroma is earthy malt with some carmelized scents, moss, toffee, lightly roasted. Light-medium bodied and softly carbonated. Taste is a bit sweet up front, caramel, toffee, medium roasted malts, is this some peat-smoked malt Iím tasting?, thereís some mild hops towards the middle (lemon, berries, grass, orange) and some light spice notes. Finishes medium dry with some hops on the tongue. Not very exciting.

UPDATED: DEC 7, 2005 Seems like anything from Bellís Brewery is incredible. One of my favorite breweries. I consider this the poster child for the perfect brown. Great appearence, dark brown, carmel, hint of coffee. Ummm, staple beer....
